hear me out oversize one ganntry so tool and stuff can clear the other one so they can switch sides when needed. Big one goes up lets smaller one pass under.

im not gonna lie, its a cool idea but like you said idex printers exist, and the only thing you really made "important" about this is where you can fill a part with a different material or whatever when legit idex printers do that, sure this is different, but in total theres more moving parts, making it less reliable, it would be hella expensive to manufacture making it not available to any mass consumer or any small consumer, its a very niche market in the end scheme,

The neck might be good if you give it enough support of some kind. A couple metal or carbon fiber rods running through it might make it successful.

That's the next thing I'm looking for in a 3d printer, a belt system that lets you print long things. It's bound to become popular soon with many making them.

This was awesome, I really like your explanations and showing the behind the scenes stuff. One thing that would be cool is if you added some kind of voiceover explaining some of what you are doing during the building montage

so how'bout this? flip the nozzles towards each other, place a cold pei sheet between them, but only part of the way up. you can print a ball without supports. both halves at the same time. the print would start with nozzles buttering up the rim. and you may wish to invent nonstatic printing cuz we're growing old waiting for it

Try to do 3D which combine 3 basic colors of filament as red, blue and green to print all coloros of the rainbow with using just only these 3 colors.

The music was pretty annoying. Skipped the entire thing, and I was met with cheap B roll footage, "measurements" that were endless, and cheap beard oil. Please do better.

In the slicer can you put them in as each a separate printer? Excellent work. I am in awe of you ❤!

Would be even better if I had the time to design slim voron style print heads that could meet parallel and coincident to each other in the center of the build plate to puzzle piece print two halves of one large model layer for layer stitched together. I haven't seen that yet. I would have to work on firmware as well. This video just gave me this idea.... side note if anyone wants to steal my idea... be my guest 😂
@kevinfreeman11017 күн бұрын
Very cool. You can now significantly speed up prints by using a large nozzle on one head and a fine nozzle on the other. That way you can extrude bulk areas quickly with the large head and do the detail work with the smaller one. Would require some slicer optimizations, but it looks like you can handle that!

Your Dual Z is too complicated. It can be done much simpler and just as rigid. This is not a machine tool that needs extra rigidity.

I had this exact idea recently and looked around to see if anyone did it and of course you have. Are there any negatives with this setup so I can decide if I should design my own?
@properprinting10 күн бұрын
Cool that you thought of this! If I were to do it again, I would lower the portal. For the purpose of printing the rims it didn't matter, but I never use that height. I would literally cut it in half for a form factor that does make sense and will perform better.

Have you thought about a better way to do this? More in line with how the Mosaic palette does it with the heater pressure cartridge? I have a Prusa XL and it's a bit more tricky to push a new filament into the extruder if it runs out. as the sensor is miles away from the extruder. On my mk3s if the filament is near end I will watch and feed the new roll in. The xl you can swap to a second nozzle but by the time it parks, heats and then lays down filament there a distinct line as it's cooled too much. Solution i guess is 2kg roll.... I have a 1.3kg print I'm considering. I have tried to do a adhoc manual style but it isn't great.

My understanding and experience has been that if you disassemble stepper motors you mess up the alignment of the magnetic fields. Something to do with them being magnetically aligned after assembly in some big electromagnet device. I've disassembled many steppers in my past and will never do it again. They never ran right or even felt right after re-assembly no matter how precise the mechanical alignment. Uneven and lower torque outputs.
@AlexDiamonds13 күн бұрын
That’s definitely cool and unique. But I cannot think of any use or advantage that that has over a $30 ender.

You should look up ice cream sandwich. It's a design technique that combines laser cut and printed parts to get the best of both.
