There is zero doubt that Gen x is currently the final generation with any grit to it but the problem is Gen x are the ones that raise the millennials and now the Gen z so in a sense Gen x is kind of to blame for the way things are with these people.

Generation X can be boiled down to: "Let's just push the button, we would be better off de*d". Edge of Etiquette (Star Trek 4 OST). The long version of generation X is the movie Reality Bites, Singles and Pump up the Volume. Honorable mention to Heathers, and SFW.

not sure how it took me 6 years to find this but your facial expression made me click on this and then I subbed. :) Joe Scott TMI lol I also own "Atlas Obscura" but I never read it. Is it worth it? Oh and I enjoy hearing about politics even if I dont 100% agree with the other person. Nice to know if I have a blind spot.

I understand why you're kind of comparing JS to Mr. Rogers, because we in the US really don't have anyone comparable who we'd be shocked to find out was an abuser, but . . . please don't. Mr. Rogers didn't joke about having sex with young girls in a caravan. He didn't do charitable deeds and then tell people he was trying to offset his bad deeds with kids. Putting the two in the same sentence feels gross and wrong--and inaccurate.

It was well know he was a rapist but he was friends with police chiefs and the royal family. Police in the UK would never attempt to arrest a Prince and even question them so he was somewhat above the law, Makes you wonder what he was doing for Prince Charles and the high ranking police officers, They were most likely having Sir Jimmy procure children for them. Still nothing has been done about it 😮

The whole Country had heard the stories. But they seemed too "far fetched " to be true. I always thought that the Establishment would be too worried about their reputations to have Savile around if he really was guilty. Then again the Bishop of Lewes used to visit my school in the `70`s. Even then people would joke about the Bishop being a predator. Like Savile the Bishop of Lewes was very close to the Prince of Wales. Unlike Savile he lived to be jailed for his crimes. George the 5th and George the 6th worked hard to give the Monarchy a "clean cut" almost "middle class" image. They set the tone for the whole establishment. But since the Profumo Affair of 1963-4 the Establishment have been less careful. Savile was not just a sexual criminal. He was a former loan shark and his Brother, Vince Savile Junior, was a middle ranking Leeds mobster. Jimmy Savile`s Brother John used to D.J. as well. He got "black listed" after allegations of sexual assault from three women. Savile`s chauffer, Dave Smith, took his own life whilst awaiting sentencing for sexual offences. Savile`s understudy, Ray` Teret, died in prison whilst serving time for sexual assault on a 15 year old girl. Savile was part of a very nasty crew. Jimmy Savile compared many of the early Beatles tours. Ringo Starr says that the late George Harrison was suspicious of him even at that time.

I used to have a KZbin channel where I reviewed firearms. I kept it for about a year then quit. First, it is WAY harder than it looks, takes way more $ than you think and takes far more time than you would think. Next, KZbin actively shadowbans content they don’t like so it’s extremely hard to grow your channel if they don’t like your content. Finally, the grind is very taxing when you work a 9-5 and you try and put out content as often as possible. A video a week is almost impossible especially with the amount of research that goes into yours is extremely difficult… I solute you sir!

My kids are 13 & 14, and I am right in the middle of gen x (1972.. I just turned 52); I very much relate to what you said about the cringe factor of the copying.. my daughter went from having her own thing going on to rejecting everything based on aesthetic, and I lost my s*** one day yelling about how none of them were even using the word properly, lmao, and that was 3.5 years ago. Millennials I always feel I relate to, maybe because my nieces and nephews were very early millennials, and I was so close to them. It's not millennials I feel can't handle life, it's gen z/alpha (my kids) that concern me. The other day we were in the car, and I checked my facebook account because I like memes, and I saw one that said skibidi (i forget the rest) and I read it out loud, mind you, because it annoyed me to no end. My two kids erupted into laughter and immediately launched into dialogue with each other like "no cap bussin gyatt etc etc..." , and I got legit mad, hahaha. It was just so frustrating to me that we live in this copycat culture, and I didn't bring my kids up like that, yet here we are. But, honestly, I feel so bad for bringing them into this horrible world, so if they need to dumb themselves down once in a while to cope, so be it. On a side note... It makes me sick when I see a full on adult making tiktoks, and they are lip-syncing to a song, or like you said, doing it to something someone else said, OR they sit with the camera on them the entire time with music playing and have short quotes pop up and they gesture toward the words and make faces, so on and so forth. It's always some generic crap and it's all just to be seen, but if you want to be seen, say something new, ffs 🤣🙄😭 I can't help it, it all makes me sick because it is so fake just to get attention. Like, why in the world would someone want to make video after video of themselves and then literally take it and show it to a bunch of people? Just why? And the men who do this and call their kids in and are doing dances and such with them, vomit. It's revolting. Grow up, people. I would love to see people stray from this follow the leader nonsense, but I won't hold my breath.

Men forget casual sex might be fun for some women but not worth the risk going back and he's creepy or evil and you're physically weaker. Sometimes it's easier to say you want more than upset someone you hardly know. I didn't want to be serious for a long time but fucking around was scary and held stigma. So guys, it may not be something you did wrong she won't go home with you, it's unfortunately what _other_ guys have done (and again -- possibly stigma) and a lot of us have scary experiences. I do. I have no idea why this was recommended 5yrs later but your honesty is appreciated. I enjoy this channel. ♡ I guess the chance is tiny this is seen.

Not just mitchell and webb in the late 2000s. but sex pistols front man johnny rotten had outed savile in a BBC radio talk show in the late 1970s. And scottish comedian jerry sadowitz also outed savile in one of his comedy routines in the late 1980s. And the paedophile character Freddy Royle in the novelist 's Irvine Welsh’s 1996 work Ecstasy was based on Savile. So there had been rumours about savile for decades. Why wasn't this guy stopped?

Sad to see a good person so obviously soul weary on a subject. If years of a black president didn’t change anything, what’s the answer? I’ve seen rich sports personalities taking the knee and thought that’s a cynical attention grabbing photo opportunity. But does it change attitudes?

I was born in 1972. I am a big wheel in my current occupation. When I was 5 my parents put a 12 year old in charge during a family get-away sleep-over when all the adults left and she marched us all down to the ice cream shop and back. Everyone was happy. I was happy for her and had a crush on her. Then I went to sleep. I had a sick BMX bike I bought by working a paper route. I struggle with dependency issues. I have survivors guilt. Tomorrow I am going camping and just want to make it the best time my wife could ever have.

It’s true. Gen X was against the participation trophies. In the 70’s people divorced, so kids had a key on a string around their necks. I had one. We had to go home and get the phone call, do everything solo. We liked being forgotten.

Talking about authenticity, while starting your video with a phoney “setting up” before getting to the content, and cutting to your cough instead of removing the cough from the video… I know this is a common trend on KZbin lately (which annoys me), but completely goes against your claim of authenticity being important to you as a “Gen X’er”.

I don't think those guys have anything to apologize for. Why should they have to be always under the thumb of youtube and how youtube wants to do things. If I really cared for something I would want to pay for it. Yes some people will drop out that is to be expected. But I would call those people freeloaders and aren't making you money anyways. So ultimately they don't really matter
