The machining for the ears has to be done for z17's as well? As for hardware I was not ready to pay 100+ for nuts and bolts, so found MAN truck propshaft has the size and grade what I needed, part numbers FE12327 and FE02140, for the bushings I used brass pipe OD16mm ID 14mm and just cut to size.

That’s good info! I figured by the time I found the info and went to the hardware store it would be worth $100. Regarding machining for 17z it just depends on the rotor you use … likely needs some mods even if using stock rotor

im wanting to do this to my c5 s6.. prob use jhm rotors for weight and not having to grind the calipers. My hold up is wheels. Have 18" two piece bbs rs-gt and im not sure theyll fit in there. any way you could measure the setups overall size with the rotor on there? see if the numbers work for these bbs before i pull the trigger. And, how do they feel when driving?

I’d be happy to make a measurement are you looking for diameter conflict with the barrel or caliper conflict with spoke?- What is the offset of your BBS? My Oettinger wheels are 35 ET. Pedal feel is similar to stock brakes but stopping is much better, I’ve not done any Canyon runs yet… also I will bleed my brakes again to see if the pedal feel is gets more firm

Not sure what point you think you have to make about the smart car but the truth is..."there is no risk to owning a smart car". I'm been driving them since 2012 and there is no risk or downside to owning a Smart Fortwo. Oh yes...there is a world of uniformed, misinformed and over opinionated idiots out there who are full of fact free opinions about the smart car and that will always be the case. The truth regarding the smart car is that there is no risk in owning one of these. The C124 is much nicer and as Bruno Sacco also said... his most successful creation, together with the normal W126. The line of the C124 is perfect, better than the large coupe, where the rear is clumsy. It also makes no sense to have a very large coupe. The cars in this video are not well maintained and not original and therefore do not look very good.

How bad is it for the turbo if you didn’t prime it before start up? Car sat over winter and I cranked it a few times before starting it and then let it idle for about 5minutes before shutting it off but my 2871r sounded very noisy during idle
@AutoAfflicted

Well, the turbo spins at super high RPM so even a short duration of running dry can be hard on it. You would want to at least make sure that your oil delivery line is primed to know that the turbo is getting lubed. With a new turbo often they probably should have some sort of assembly lube, but always good to get some more in there if you can.

Parts are slowly becoming an issue in N. America (Canada).I have two and I am a mechanic. Bought one for 500 with 50,000 miles and a blown motor (overheat). Rebuild was smooth and it runs great. Had to underspec one of the exhaust vales by 2 thou and it ticks a tiny bit out the exhaust (sounds like a lifter, but it's not). My suggestion is don't buy one if you don't twist a wrench at all. They come in at the wrecker once in a while, but I assume lots of larger American cities probably have a ton of them at the wreckers.
