Awesome video, I’m Luca from the Facebook group, what I’ve done is taken that Y pipe off and true dualed the exhaust because of it being way restrictive, I totally recommend tuning the car with stage 2 or 3 if your willing to take the cat down pipes off and cutting out the pipes right before the cats, removing those pieces and replacing them with properly rounded pipe pieces

Great video, the W220 is my favorite Mercedes chassis, the newer ones feel too big and plasticky and the old ones feel "historic", it is truly the greatest sleeper road trip car. Like you said bring a fire extinguisher but you'll be riding like a king! Part of W220 ownership is accepting what you won't bother fixing. You're right about getting a used/driven version than a "clean" version because the maintenance is what makes these cars.

@@AutoAfflicted go for a test drive in a 221 65 and you'll know right away love or hate. For me it was definitely not love. Sure the voice command lever in a W220 is annoying but having a column mounted shifter is even worse! The window buttons in a W221 are horrible I must say and I hate the cluster. it's a shame because I loved watching it on top gear in Albania but maybe it's a vehicle for that area ... 😉

Inherited a D2 Audi A8L from my uncle. Ebony Effect Pearl, progressive-rate sport springs (28-30MM drop) with Bilsteins, Hypergram 18" x 8.5" wheels that match the paint, tinted windows, rear muffler replaced with dual in/out 2.25" stainless muffler & tips, little trunk lip spoiler...my older kid is now driving it and most all the consumable parts are replaced (whole list) and it is reliable. People really like the car, ask questions. In fact, two GSP troopers pulled us over (going from Barksdale AFB) just to check it out

You would be better off addressing what needs to be fixed as you discover it, even being proactive with the common issues like hoses and replacing the accumulators. Also, grab as many M120 parts you can get there was parts we couldn’t even get at Mercedes Benz when I worked for them. The parts were “unobtainium”

I love my W211 E55 the cars don’t prefer 30% throttle they don’t care they are just machines and therefore have zero preference. However if you do exceed ~30% throttle in a V8 Kompressor or 65 bi turbo for more than a second or 2 you are in very illegal territory. I don’t know if the s600’s are this punchy tho. Not to say my car isn’t driven lightly.
