Brilliant mate, that's a nice linkage, avoids having sliding guides. Looked like a challenge keeping it at a sensible speed there.

Hello John, and enginelover1. That is music to my ears and my eyes, with all that rhythmic noise and motion. I like the parallel motion which supports the weight on machine side of the cutting blade and permits/lets the cutting side drop freely, with the separate motion of the connecting rod to produce the cutting oscillation, Knowing the state of that machine when you got it, you deserve more than a pat on the back for such a result. Yes you are right. Some back story most probably it spent its working life at the dry docks to cut the huge wooden beams to support the ships from underneath.
