lets say it’s a night interior, then i would expose for my key light right ? instead of the window since it’s the day
@CarterCreativeContent2 күн бұрын
@@princealivision It would be a case of balancing between the light on the talent and the practicals in the scene. Usually you'd need to have the practicals on dimmers because they'll clip otherwise.

WAW, the rythm and the composition + the story (actors, music..) everything is amazing ! I have few question : why Gh5 instead of S5, and did you use an anamorphic lens to shoot ?
@CarterCreativeContent20 күн бұрын
Thanks.... Production on this started before I had the S5. It's all shot on Contax Zeiss lenses 👌

I've never commented under a KZbin video before, but now I just have to. Your channel is absolutely fantastic. For years I have been looking for a video that explains how to expose properly in the dark. I've seen a number of videos on this, but ETTR never made sense to me, nor did I understand why I should expose with a grey card in a scene like this. It's really hard to find film-makers on KZbin who are really good at what they do and don't just torture you with one-minute opening credits. But you know what you're doing! Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

Good learning exercise 👍 Draping additional diffusion material over a soft box rather than reducing the light level with a dimmer control has the added advantage of making the light extra soft, which enhances the cinematic style. Btw, I also have the 50mm Planar f/1.7 - my best and most used vintage lens. Never a poor choice 😃

You’ve successfully demystified the color grading process for me. After watching so many videos, I’m happy to finally not be overwhelmed with more information than necessary. And it’s great to not feel like I have to download a bunch of LUTs to figure out what look works best when I can create the look I want on my own. Thanks for sharing your process🙏

I think this is great video man. The fact it cost around a £1000 to create this is fantastic. It's definitely a point I've argued with so many people, that the lighting and tools aren't as important as knowing how to use them to create the look you want. Great work man.

Yeah I’m learning how to expose properly for the first time and “expose for what you can’t control, don’t clip highlights, and use non-diegetic lighting to expose everything else” has always made sense to me as a rule of thumb

Hi mate, love the video. I found a bunch of zeiss distagon and planar lenses on a shelf at work just gathering dust (we shoot on Sony) was thinking about grabbing a lens adapter and chucking the Zeiss glass on my old GH5 for personal use. What adapter did you use? Cheers 👍

Brilliant stuff man. You have better taste in cameras than furniture. Do you find yourself wishing you had an external recorder ? Ive been going back and forth on the s5, the IPB compression is what makes me hesitate, but when i compared the all-i data rates of the s5 ii x and did the math on it, the resolution on a per frame basis was worse. To throw a wrench into all of this: do you think v-log vs standard profiles made a difference? Will check out the rest of your channel.
