The best Chinese restaurants in the world are in Vancouver and Richmond BC. The best Chinese chefs move there, which really pisses of Beijing

as someone who grew up in Markham, Ontario, our dim sum is pretty much top tier all over. a lot of us grew up off the cart service, and logistically it doesn't happen as much anymore, but the quality is still the same

Hong Kong borscht soup doesn't even have beets. Its vegetable tomato soup. I live in Canada and I go to a HK cafe in Vancouver for lunch often and I always get the borscht instead of the cream soup with my combo. One day I went to a Ukrainian restaurant to get an authentic version of my favorite soup and it turns out I don't like it.

Glad you enjoyed the food. It's too bad you didn't get a chance to take in a classic push-cart dim sum restaurant. Well there is always next time if they still exist.

Shout out to Naq! Muslims tend to erase and diminish regional culture and cuisine based on Islamic practices. But Naq made sure to expose Evan to authentic Isaan cuisine.

Toronto and area has the best Asian food, not only Chinese but Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc. Remember when pricing the Canadian dollar is worth less so $25 USD is about $35 CAD so the prices are not out of line with US prices and the lobster price is actually cheaper. Your dinner for 6-8 people was $368 CAD so about $265 USD which is not bad for a "tourist trap". Glad you all enjoyed your visit to T.O. We usually go to Markham for dim sum but if downtown we go to SkyDragon on Spadina...5th floor of mall and has an old school vibe and still use the carts. There are better, more upscale places in the north end but it still holds a special place in my heart.

Timmy's is not as good as it was, since it was bought out by a multi national corporation and merged with BK. Not surprising that Murkins would think Timmy's is good. Had they come, back before 2018, they would have gotten the true Canadian experience of the then truly Canadian Timmy's. Not this Murkin, microwaved, frozen doughnuts. Back when Timmy's had bakers that made the doughnuts FRESH ! That being said. Don't get me wrong. I have family who were born and live in Murika and there are many things I love in Murika, that they do better than anywhere in the world, even Canada !

The restaurants have an option of putting nothing today. They most likely just forgot about it with their other plans. It's happened to me before at a pizza place. Only they didn't apologize or make it right.

Love the video. You look like a fun family. I think the reason that Toronto has such an embarrassment of food riches is that we have so many people from all over the world. The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has well over 1/2 million people of Chinese ancestry. It should be no surprise that you can find good dim sum in Toronto since there's a 1/2 million Chinese people that want it and if its not good, they all go elsewhere. You mentioned Indian food. I'm gonna wager that the Indian food was pretty good too. And that would also be because Toronto has a very large Indian community. Glad you liked the city and the food.
