The first weapon I was issued in the military as a medic in 1985 was a Springfield 1911… that was what I carried in civilian life also. When the military changed to the Beretta 92 (M-9) I became very familiar with its weaknesses… and strong points… as years passed I bought a Taurus 92 series because of its cross over features of the two… yet remaining fully aware of it’s shortcomings also… “BUT!” I still carry a Springfield 1911 because of its proven reliability and stopping power even though it has a lower capacity, it’s heavier, but is thinner and easier to conceal carry… as long as the world doesn’t fall apart and I don’t have to be concerned with aggressive bands of roaming gangs of thugs… at that point I may be forced to carry a larger capacity… 3 mags with 7 rounds of “.45 ACP” = 21… or 3 mags with 15 rounds of 9mm = “45”… I see it as that either way, I’m carrying 45 😎👍

I prefer 1911 platforms but I don't need flashlights red dots or garage door openers on mine. I don't need for the bad guy to know where I'm at by seeing a light on my gun especially if he's in my house

lower your expectations and don't expect miracles. naturally the bigger the gun the better the ability to be accurate but concealing is easier with small.

Not sure why there's arguments or telling this guy to get better. Never met a man with big hands that didn't shoot BETTER with a full size pistol. He never said he shoots like crap with a micro. He just said he shoots better with full size.. I shoot just fine with a micro. But I definitely shoot even better with a full size. So if someone wants to maximize their accuracy and capacity than a full size is definitely the more intelligent option. I prefer to not print and i want comfort. So I don't carry full size. But if I know I'm standing the entire time I'm out and it's winter and I wear some baggy or thick clothes...... I'm carrying full size every time

I would like to carry a 1911 daily but they can be heavy. Most times i do go Glock 17 gen5 mos. But other times the 43x. Depends on what im doing that day. But if i could find a decent lighter model i would go 1911.

I see you use a tri lug on this, I'm caught between using a tri lug or doing deadair Xeno on my wolfman. I've heard good things about both but I also heard that tri lug can cause baffle strikes at a higher rate and the POI shift is off so it doesnt hold a great zero. A xeno just screws on so it's alittle more secure (just what I read). But I just wanted to see if you had any thoughts and if anyone would recommend either one that would be appreciated!

I took the time to do some research on this rifle. You set it up the way it's recommended, you're not gonna find any rifle even double the weight that we do with this rifle does. And you're not gonna find one zero anywhere close to as well as this one will. It's pricey, but if you take a serious look at the engineering that went into it, it starts to make a lot of sense.

I too switched from a compact 9 Tupperware gun back to my Kimber LW. 5", light, reliable (I know 😂), and I'm great with it. Iron sights, no attachments. Somehow, it's even more comfortable, but I carry strong side. I'm not a fudd, it just works for me.

1. “You’ll be a target” - Regardless of your lack of anecdotal evidence researching this, this logically makes sense. Let’s say I am determined to commit a crime or even create mass casualties, if for no other reason I would shoot the first person I see with a gun to save myself and then move on to what ever my goal is. 2. “It’s a deterrent” - To someone who is opportunistic, not to someone who is determined. Plenty of footage of people having guns pointed at them and it does not stop them from trying to fight. 3. “Someone will grab your gun” - This actually aligns to the first point of you being a target. You aren’t a security guard, and since there are no laws on minimum level of retention for civilians people will carry their hi points in their uncle mikes holster they got in a used bin at a gun show and wear it on a 15 year old Walmart belt. They will be looking at their phones waiting in line and someone will rip their gun from them and run. If you don’t believe me, watch more security camera footage. 3. “Dont get into a fight” - well no shit, thanks for the advice dad. Dont know if you are aware of this, but sometimes the fight comes to us and there was nothing we could have done to see it coming or prevent it. What we can control is if that other person knows we are armed, or more accurately when they know we are armed. I don’t want them going into that fight knowing what I can do, it’s literally my only advantage as the defending party. Again if you think having a visible gun on you would prevent this, see point 2. 4. “It’s not cool” - this is not worth addressing

Ultimately I feel it boils down to what you train with the most. Whether it be a 1911, Glock, SIG, Walther, H&k , Beretta. Just make sure it's well made and maintained

When reholstering a pistol with a hammer, make a habit of holding your hammer with your thumb for extra safety. This way, you don't trip the trigger. Don't just religh on your safety.

The Luger is a more accurate platform that the standard 1911, the old Astra 400 is also more accurate because of fixed barrel, the CZ 75 is also more accurate than standard 1911, the Sig P210, the Pardini GT9……there are far more accurate platforms than the standard 1911…and I talk from experience. My Astra 400 is more accurate than any standard goverment 1911.

Rob hit the nail on the head. There are always the as good as crowd who justify their lack of enthusiasm or whatever just to save a buck. Shot mostly colts and then kimbers back in the day but after buying my first ED Brown 5’ govt in .45 I quickly learned that my gold cups and custom shop kimber eclipse target, were actually to become my minimum standard. Currently saving for my next purchase which will be an ACW prime govt in Blue with walnut grips. Almost there .

Man great video! I’ve been doing the open carry deal for almost 3 years for the very same reasons! A 1911 in a nice leather rig has gotten me nothing but compliments and praise. Granted down here in South Ga I would say that knowing someone who doesn’t atleast have a pistol in the truck is a rarety, I want to see more people open carrying and doing so properly. My work has me travel all over the South, and I open carry in every state other than Fl, and it drives me crazy not being able to in a supposedly “super pro gun” state.

I have trained for years with and carry 1911s. I use leather holsters but it must have a thumb break for weapon retention and additional safety with the thumb break being in between the hammer and firing pin. Ricky from IBM

I had my CCW when I lived in the Los Angeles area too When I visited family in Florida I had a non-residential Florida CCW. I now live in Florida and have a Florida CCW and Florida is Constitutional Carry State. But still have a CCW for being able to purchase handguns and leave with them. Also traveling to other states that have reciprocal CCW agreements with Florida so I can carry in these states(30 states). Ricky from IBM

The triggers on, really any of the micro 9's, are far from dog crap. Besides, people worry WAY too much about triggers on pistols. I feel you summed it up at the end. You're a 1911 guy. That's why you made the comment about the triggers and that guys M&P. Honestly, it sounds like a shooter problem, not a pistol problem.

Good video. I grew up on 1911s starting in 1973. I like some striker fired pistols, but still come back to the 1911. My take is similar to yours for CCW criteria. 1. Intended purpose 2. Reliability. 3. Ergonomics 4. Proficiency. While I am comfortable with only a thumb safety, I prefer also having the backstrap safety.

Dead air just released the Nomad XC and LT, *and* the Nomad Ti XC is coming soon The XC series is 3-D printed and their lightest model yet I would say if you’re looking for something ultra light, super quiet (Titanium absorbs sound better than steel) and you won’t be shooting full auto (because Titanium heats up faster ) then the Nomad Ti, XCTi, or any similar model would be the perfect choice 🎉
