I am so glad you pointed out the just because you have figured out your KERF setting - that it doesn't mean that number will be perfect every time - that you have to also deal with the differences in wood, dryness, moisture, etc. It is really frustrating once you have it, to cut something and have the KERF be too tight or too loose!
You're really clever! I've been watching video on engraving images and none have had a thorough explanation like your videos. Well done! I love this and I also watched your video re engraving on slate :) ❤

That is something no one else talks about, Thanks. I have a question that I hope you can answer for me. Can you tell me how to turn that cross hair on and off? Mine does not come on and I need to know if it's a problem with the machine or if something got turned off some how?

Can you make something like this with a 5w laser? I have the Algolaser DIY Kit.

If you are able to cut a material with your laser, absolutely. If you struggle cutting say 6mm material but you can cut 3mm material, you can create your box in the generator with 3mm thickness. I hope this helps.

Awesome video, very detailed. Thanks for creating it. It answered a lot of questions that I had. Looking forward to figuring out my perfect photo and gravy settings for my laser. And by the way, 30 minutes is not too long, especially when the content is meaningful.

Which paint did you use before engraving the slate coasters?
@MadeBetterWithKnowledgeАй бұрын
A matte black spray paint

Which laser engraver do you suggest for a starter?

Great video, loved it and learnt something about Lightburn. Thank you for this video. I'm just starting with laser engraving, what kind of spray do you use after sanding the coasters?
@MadeBetterWithKnowledgeАй бұрын
Thank you. Prior to laser engraving, I use a matte black automotive spray paint. If I can't source matte paint, I'll settle for using a satin finish but never use a gloss. It is hard to see your finished result if you finish with a gloss in certain lights.

Why don’t you just etch the coaster without sanding and painting? You get a really good contrast between the original darker split surface and the etched parts. I do this all the time with anything from text or logos up to detailed photos.

great video - i have an A20Pro and I have tried slate coasters with some success - I have two questions for you why do you paint your coaster black before engraving. Secondly when you are finished engraving do you clean the slate off with a cleaning agent
@MadeBetterWithKnowledgeАй бұрын
Thank you. I only use paint to give the images more contrast. I also like to sand my slate flat, as I prefer the flat look to the slate rather than the natural wayveyness to slate. Because I sand the slate flat, it becomes a lighter colour, which is another reason why I do it. After engraving, I use compressed air to remove any debris.

there is one problem with this design, if you put in the candle with the alluminium can around you can burn everything
@MadeBetterWithKnowledgeАй бұрын
Yes, absolutely. If anyone is making anything out of wood, I would recommend using common sense and never introduce a flame of any kind to something that is potentially flamable. Fortunately, there are led lit flame like candles that can substitute a normal t light or wax candle
