I had to space the plywood I'm cutting 2mm above an aluminum honeycomb bed to get the best results. The aluminum bed with 6mm cells may not be allowing for enough airflow and the heat sink effect makes it harder to get a clean cut on 3mm basswood. I'm using a 20 watt diode laser. The MDF bed would have much greater airflow.

Any reason that you didn't show the grid being used? After all, that's a lot of cutting just to see if this invention suits our projects. Ideally you could divide the grid into sections and it would be easier to replace just the area that needs it most without wasting material. Thanks for the video & cheers. Happy 2025 to you!

With an Omtech 55cm x 70cm honeycomb costing £40 this seems like a lot of effort. I know not everyone has the money, but the time and materials used here could be used more profitably. And there is no easy way to clamp a piece of warped wood. The honeycomb is either magnetic, like the one mentioned, or can take clamps.
