Temple of Elemental Evil is a childhood memory! And the Wheel of Time game has been on my list for some time.

2:54 Oh boy. Sounds like this video is going to be worthless interpretation one. One error straight up is regarding this kid to bring back his love. Love was never mentioned in the game once. In fact there is no link between Wander and Mono at all, and it was intentional that this was left out. 11:57 No theories needed. "We" is enough.

God I need to play through FF6 already. Been a Final Fantasy fanatic since I played through FF7 way back in 1998 but I've never been able to get through more than 5 - 10 hours of FF6 over the years. I have the pixel remasters of 1 through 6 on my Switch so I don't have any more excuses for not playing through it entirely once and for all.

Kefka won, he destroyed the world just didn't reduce it to nothing like he eventually came to want. He fucked everyone, his death caused the end of Magic among other things and his actions turned Terra from best waifu tier into a complete dumb dumb.

7:38 we know from the FF6 Ultimania that Kefka graduated from the Imperial Academy at the top of his class, so that portion of his backstory isn't really left up to theory.

These stories should be turned into movies (not live action, please). Now I understand why Final Fantasy fans were so mad when "Spirits Within" came out.

What a story.

It’s not often that the antagonist in the story is the real main character. Seriously. FF6 has a huge cast of protagonists. Some are more important than others (see Terra & Celes v. Relm & Strago), and most of them have decent story arcs (especially Terra & Celes), but the main character really is Kefka. The entire story revolves around him. And he has his own arc, diving further and further into madness. And when he gets what he wants-infinite power-he gets bored with it. There’s just so much enjoyment he can get destroying stuff, and you really get the idea that, once he has nothing left to destroy, he plan on destroying himself.

Have you tried, Magic: The Gathering, Duel of the Planeswalkers? Also a little known game set in that universe, loved that game. Also, that Wheel of Time FPS game feels like a reboot of Hexxen with a rename into a more known name.
@antonioaguera45807 сағат бұрын
You should check out the way FF14 recreated his fight. For the whole fight recreated down to the music, watch the savage mode fight. Amazing. Also, still got goosebumps when hearing Kefka's music as he descends from the heavens. Noteworthy is, that Sephiroth in the original FF7 follows Kefka's theme as final form, his famous One-Winged Angel form and theme referencing him being a demigod, since Kefka, being a god, having two wings.

I recently played Arena a game from the 1994 and the first TES game. And i stood in the province Skyrim of Tamriel and watched the snowfall. Certainly not as detailed animated as in Skyrim TES 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2, but it still feels amazing in all of its pixelated and very eye protecting glory.(the game cured my eye strain problems, since there was not much to look at and pay attention to LOL) Most other 90ies games with snow, like Heroes of Might and Magic 2/3 and Red Alert 1, had way too bright snow maps with no day/night cycles to change the dynamic of it.

Looking back on it, I was so spoiled to start playing the FF games with this one. All these years later and it's still my favorite (with Kefka remaining as one of my top villains for sure). Even Sephiroth failed to truly wow me after the complete Zero F***s given by Kefka, like there's something just so poetic about the pointlessness of it.. And ngl I also just love a goofy guy with makeup what can I say

Best RPG and one of my top 3 games of all time. Just one thing, I didn't find Kefka that difficult in the rinal fight. I kind of uhh, taught all of my heros Ultima. Automatic 9999 hit ever round from all 4 while hasted with a couple cures sprinkled in just kind of made that fight pretty simple.

Irenicus is cemented as a great villain forever in Baldurs Gates history as he certainly left a legacy for those that lived to remember him. He didn't just affect you with trying to steal your soul; he affected a few of your companions too. It never felt right not bringing Jaheria and Minsc along for the final fight with Irenicus; they had among the heaviest words to throw at him. Irenicus killing Khalid still hurts Jaheria deeply even if she doesn't really talk about it. He is the reason Minsc never considered his dajemma a success despite the Iron Lord saying it was. He was the one villain that well and truly made them feel vengeful.

You mentioned FF8, are you a Ultemicia=Rinoa fan? For me, it saves the storyline. Without it it just feels like a awkwardly written love story, littered with plot holes. But R=U turns it into a Shakespearen tragedy.

Kefka will likely always be my favorite FF villain. It's funny in a way because as a character he's not particularly deep. His philosophy of nihilism is pretty half-baked in its way, and it perfectly serves his selfish ambitions. Most villains want something which is what drives their actions and the plot. This desire humanizes them in a way and provides a framework for the heroes to work around. If you know your enemy's target then you can get in their way. And having those wants does impose somewhat of a limitation on the villain. If your goal is to take over and rule a kingdom, completely leveling it and everyone in it is probably not an extent you'll be willing to go to. This can kindle the hope that said villain can be stopped and ideally maybe even reasoned with. But Kefka doesn't really want anything. All that he enjoys is reveling in destruction, and the only thing that changes for him over the story is the escalation of the severity of his chaos and his power to enact it. This is what makes Kefka a scary antagonist as you can never predict where he's going to be or what he's going to do. All you can be sure of is that it will be terrible.

Hi! Excellent work on the video. A correction you might want to consider: In the actual game of Final Fantasy 6, the only information given about his backstory (and this is a rumor presented in the game) is that he was the first person who went through the process to become a Magitek Knight by being experimented on by Cid and lost his mind because the process wasn't perfect. Everything outside of that bit of information is conjecture and fan fiction. There is a little bit more that can be inferred in-game based on his dialogue, the story's theme of loss, and the Kefka's tower fight, but again at best, this is fan theory only.

This was my all time favorite Final Fantasy game! Kefka was sadistic, cruel, evil and I think underrated. He literally 'destroyed the world' he accomplished what most villains could not. He's better than Sepiroth.

Man I dont know how I found out about Septerra Core back in 99, but it was beautiful. But I never finished it. I remember geting to a point with Led, the girl with massive wrench, and combat had become so tedious and slow that I just stopped playing. Shame. I still have the discs...maybe I'll have to grab it off Steam sometime and try it again.

Unfortunately, the original SNES release of FF6 kinda spoiled the midgame twist because the game came with a printed double-sided world map poster: one side was the World of Balance and the other was The World of Ruin. So before you even started the game you already knew that the world would be destroyed at some point in the story. I wish they had only included the World of Balance map poster so that this was a complete surprise.

I want to destroy everything. This place, Corel itself, the whole world... even me. - Dyne, FF7 Sorry, it's not exactly Dyne's quote but it's the jist of what he says. I haven't played FF7o in a long long time. Kefka and Dyne are nihilists. Perhaps the Batman's Joker too. I think that's what we see here. That's why it's so haunting. There's no Redemption for ones such as these.
