Operation Market Garden 80th Anniversary

The 80th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden in Holland.
I take part in a freefall parachute display with the Jump Dogs Parachute Team, visit Ginkel Heath drop zone to watch the main drop, watch the Red Devils Parachute Team jump into the Hartenstein Hotel, drink my own body weight in beer, and attend the Memorial Service on Sunday.
What an amazing weekend of reunions, celebrations and remembrance. Lest We Forget those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

Really appreciate all you do in capturing these commemorations. Must be a real privilege to be an integral part of them also. On buying a grink for men who fought at Arnhem, i am glad to say i did, but these were such humble men who never said a word about their war and i found out much much later after they were gone. One my grandfather was an original 11 SAS then onto the renaming as the Parachute Regiment and jumped on D-Day, the other was his best mate Bernie, a fellow para who jumped at Arnhem. They being different brigades never knew each other during the war, but afterwards remained brothers for life. Being around men like this and my other grandfather in the BEF and then the SOE it inspired those who came after, my dad a para himself, and myself joining up at 16 in 87. Ironically you would have thought they would let me go Junior para, but they were having none of it, insisted i get a trade and off to Harrogate and the Signals i went (i did get my way eventually sort of, but I'm still just a hat). But nowadays these legends are gone, we are the last of them who grew up in their very humble shadows. So its really appreciated when i see you keep these memories alive.

@Prepared Pathfinder, Afternoon Tom. We’ve never met but I had to comment after watching this. Fab🙏👍🇬🇧 I was honoured and felt very humble; to be allowed to fly BUT NOT JUMP in 2001 on the 57th commemoration with 4 Para. I was on the lead Herc, of three (90x3; 270 Paras total) on the back ramp and helped with organising the chalks at Soestrtburg (now closed airbase I believe). 4 jumped main and reserve and we did 2 flyovers as there was a vehicle on the dz. Was there for 5 days prior to the weekend; and for the Service at Oosterbreck Something I will never forget to be allowed to see a very set of blokes doing what they do best, part of a very special British Army regiment. @@PreparedPathfinder Wow mate that’s amazing. The lead PJI was Sgt Chris Padgett RAF from RAF Wattisiham in 2201; when the SF jump school was still there now BZN I believe? I guess if you jumped tandem from the c47, do you remember who Harry Enfield and his Dad interviewed? We were ALL humbled when we realised who BBC TV we’re focusing on! Amazing video. We need to mention the self sacrifice of the polish paratroopers who jumped to save the british. The movie bridge to far is a great one to understand what happened. Enjoy it to the fullest my friend
