There have been professional films, commercial projects, educational, and vocational content produced using iPhones and iPads. Magazines and news articles accompanied by photos also made with iPhones and iPads. As mentioned in this video, Apple has produced compelling videos, their own commercials, and billboard advertisements with content created via iPhones… Realistically, iPhones probably could handle 80% of what most people believe they need traditional cameras to accomplish. It is just hard to let go of conventional methods of doing things… 🤔

I don’t think it’ll replace mirrorless or DSLR at least from a professional standpoint. However if anyone wants to get into photography (I’m like you a hobbyist/ amateur) smartphones gives you a good starting block to learn some of the basics without having to worry about shooting in aperture, program or manual… you have just enough control without getting lost if you want too. I have significantly less control because I’m using an SE which is an iPhone 8 with a better chip. I also shoot film (Kodak H35N and Nikon FM) but have an old DSLR Nikon D3100. With the controls that are given and editing tools that are built into the phone you can learn a lot if you want too then at some point get a camera and glass for the photography your into. I plan to wait till at least the iPhone 18 before I upgrade.

The biggest problem with the iPhone (I have pre ordered the 16 Pro) is they don’t have a 48MP camera. Look at Tony Northrups video on this. Apple are taking a 12MP image, inserting 4 “fake” pixels around every real one to boost the pixel count, and then calling it 48MP (12 x 4 = 48). Tony takes an 8MP shot with a “real” camera and a 48MP shot with an iPhone 15 Pro Max and zooms in on some text. The 8MP photo has far and away clearer text than a 48MP photo from on iPhone. Sadly until manufacturers really innovate and stop using computer trickery to lie to us, they won’t replace real cameras as much as I’d love them to!

I do not think it will replace the “camera experience” because at some point you want to stay away of the phone and enjoy that time. But it should challenge camera companies to make product that accessible, easy to use, compact, build quality and a accesible price. Because despite the limitations the iphone can do what i need for less price, compare to camera with lenses, i think it becomes a suitable and good option. As for me, I use both but i prefer the camera. I use the phone to help me with composition.

Thanks for this review. I bought the 30mm macro when it came out as I did not have a macro lens for my FujiFilm system. I have done a lot of macro photography with my Nikon full frame system and found that I prefer the 105mm to the 60 mm lens because it lets me get in tight with "shy" subjects like insects. One big disappointment for me with the Fuji 30mm is that when you start to get close to a subject, lighting becomes a major issue. The lens/camera/photographer block a lot of the light. I think that I will be looking into reviews the Fuji 60mm macro as it is lighter than the 80mm and seems to be in the range of the 105mm Nikon FF when used with a cropped sensor.
@JackieDElia20 күн бұрын
Thanks. Had the 60 mm years ago and one thing to note is it’s not a true one to one macro. Other than that, it was OK just a bit slow with focusing. I definitely agree. The 30 mm is a bit difficult to get so close without blocking light.
@travel73419 күн бұрын
@@JackieDElia That is good to know about it not being 1:1 macro. The focus speed is not as important as I like to do manual focus with macro, set the focus and use a Manfrotto fine focusing rail, then stack the images in PS. I am probably rather old school!

I think you nailed it... I have both the 80mm and 30mm, and the former has a wow factor for me and the type of macro shots I like to take. But the 30 is such a good do-everything lens that is versatile enough for really nice macro when you need it. Focuses fast and extremely close, useful field of view, small and lightweight. Too often people get fixated on f1.4 for primes, but for most uses you don't want to be shooting that aperture. It's easy to get subject separation at 2.8 or 4 when you can get closer to your subject
@JackieDElia22 күн бұрын
