Late 2003/early 2004 is peak Libs for me. Probably somewhere between Don't Look Back Into the Sun and Can't Stand Me Now. I saw them in Birmingham February '04 just before it all properly fell apart. Great gig. Interpol were in Wolves on Friday night. That was a great gig, too.

This was probably peak libs, yeah. but I would love to have seen them in the late 90's before ''Plan A'' was implemented. If Plan A was to copy the Strokes early on with vocal mic sound and look, etc. The Libertines one upped them with the red military jackets and whatnot, which may seem gimmicky now but is pretty iconic imo. The way I look at it The Beatles had to go from leather jackets to suits, and The Libertines from suits to leather. Not that I am comparing them musically but you have to adapt to the times and what people want to some extent.
