15:25 - Wear non prescription compression socks to prevent clots in your legs when you have to sit or stand for a long time. I use them regularly for office days, long travels such as flights, drives etc. Note: this is an extra to movement, not a replacement for it!

Try second-hand stores etc for energy drinks. I usually bring 2; 1 for work, 1 for driving home.

try a b12 vitamin pill and a mountaindew, damn near same feeling as same as energy drink.

Dollar Tree is a great one too. They always get surplus drinks from other stores and have a regular supply of rockstars/ripits lol

I’ll recommend safety glasses. They make prescription glasses also. Really helps keeping things out your eyes. Not just spit and bodily fluids, just washing the car keeps a little bit of dust out your eyes.

I enjoyed this series. Although I am no longer on nights, I always enjoyed it. I would do foot patrol and door checks during down time. I actually caught a guy breaking in a garage one night while on foot. I do miss nights, however I do feel so much better on days.

I loved night shift when I was in patrol. I think it might have been you who described it as being the after-hours government in terms of problem solving for people. Very true in my experience. Plus you get to see all the really weird stuff over night.

As a night shifter I take aspirin to ward off clots in my legs from long hours sitting in a car,an aspirin a day is actually therapeutic.

I work EMS in the UK, in my area police won't attend mental health jobs, even where the person has a history of assaulting emergency workers, until that person assaults someone TODAY. It causes so much conflict between ambulance and police here.

Swede here. I sit in a Very secure bunker pushing buttons, checking emails & take occasional calls. Monitor mostly smart cameras that alerts when necessary. Kind of security, with a little more licensing etc, mostly for government installations. Coffey is best to have before 2300. Never do energy drinks. No food after midnight. I like it. We do 4 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off etc. With 25-35% extra pay each of the 12s on. Keep schedule most of the days, whether working or not. I work 12s since 7 years

Watching this while working on midnights. Lol. We switch days and night every 60 calendar days. I use a TLR 1 on my duty weapon. I use a stream light not sure model or lumens on my duty rifle.

My security patrol site just got a new car and we aren’t allowed to wear our duty belts in it. Any ideas on how to carry essential gear without a duty belt?

I recently got sent to the shadow realm (midnights) by my agency. I find my biggest struggle is adjusting from my time on to time off. We work 8 straight with 6 straight off. I always find myself wanting to do daytime activities with my girlfriend and friends during my off time, but that first day back to work is always a killer. I am lucky enough that the girlfriend doesn't take offense when I am always tired and waste away in bed half the day on my off days.

My father was a cop for 35 years through the 70’s/80’s/90’s. He used to run allot. I asked why, he said “encase I have to chase some asshole”. Pretty simple I guess😂

Our Sheriff's Office is so short staffed we are doing rotating 72 hour shifts. Yes you read that right............My job SUCKS!!!!!!!! Our Comissioners don't give a shit.

Rural Nebraska County of 2500 people. No police just Sheriff's Office. When we loose 1 Deputy to the neighbor County that pays 20% more we all suffer. We can't replace anyone either. Commies couldn't care less.
@derweibhai9 ай бұрын
Pretty simple, we work for 72 hrs at a time, sleep when you are tired (if you can) and try not to get into anything. If you have to EPC or JAIL outside of the County you just cross your fingers that nothing happens while you are gone. If it does the people are on their own until you get back. Or Troopers can be called if all hell breaks loose, but they won't go to petty calls.

Labor law says that an agency with 4 or fewer people can treat their employees however they want. Yeah it is hell.
