I can't wait until silencers are no longer on the NFA and not considered a firearm, you will see the price drop like a rock.

I do think as a community we should hold people that declare themselves as citizen journalists to a higher standard. There is a lot of real shit information that's rushed out with little to no research. It's a big problem. it's up to us to hold self-proclaimed journalists accountable.

Here in Georgia, the law is messed up. A person at 18, they can legally purchase, own, and possess firearms but can not legally carry them until they turn 21 unless they are active duty military personnel.

I've carried in public since 19 /w a non resident permit from New Hampshire - I had been carrying on my property / vehicle since 18 but yeah. SB 319 states a lawful weapon carrier is " anyone licensed to carry a weapon in another state. Just some friendly information, I don't mind discussing more about this.

You cry about mainstream media not being held accountable for lies, but avoid accountability for "citizen jounalists" as if they cant lie and spread misinformation. It makes sense that journalists should be formally employed by a recognized (i.e. registered as a business of type 'media outlet".) That way, when journalists lie or spread misinformation the company they work for can be held legally accountable.
@the_dvb_Күн бұрын
The problem with KZbin “journalists” is they don’t have any standards by which they hold themselves accountable. Traditional news organizations and the journalism degrees required to work in them instilled basic rules of data integrity, multi-sourcing, fact checking and a dozen other practices designed to provide the audience with trust and confidence that some dipshit with a KZbin account has no equivalent. Is traditional news perfect? Hell no. But the FCC isn’t governing KZbin reporters the way that False Information is regulated on broadcast news. Additionally, the loss of the Fairness Doctrine represented a massive shift from what news organizations were obligated to share, which opened Pandora’s box of “entertainment news” like FOX being able to go full conservative, 100% of the time. Alternative media represents the same flaws traditional media has, but with less regulations of honest, fact-based and sourced information.

IN OTHER NEWS . . . United States v. Quiroz (22-50834 5th Cir.) FILED January 13, 2025 IMO . . . The Fifth Circuit derived a historical tradition of “protecting the public from criminal defendants indicted for serious offenses.” (Op. at 17) but cites only to pre-trial detention without bail and generally to surety laws - neither of which stand for prohibiting possession of firearms if out on bail (i.e., not under pre-trial detention) after indictment before there has been any conviction. Reaching for support, the Fifth Circuit then cited to its earlier decision in United States v. Diaz, 116 F.4th 458 (2024) but that rested on people with actual convictions for violent felonies. The Fifth Circuit then stated ‘Because “capital punishment was permissible to respond to theft,” we concluded that “the lesser restriction of permanent disarmament that § 922(g)(1) imposes is also permissible.”’ (Op. at 17) But this speaks to punishment for a conviction, not punishment for merely being under indictment without any conviction. The Fifth Circuit then stated that ‘if “capital punishment was permissible to respond to” burglary at the founding, then so too is the temporary disarmament that § 922(n) may lead to-surely a lesser penalty than the “permanent disarmament” required by § 922(g)(1)’ (Op. at 19) Here again, the Fifth Circuit conflates, or super-imposes, punishment responding to a conviction with restrictions on those who have not been convicted. In sum, the Fifth Circuit was heavy on rhetoric about “general principles” but light on citing to actual historical laws from which it drew its conclusion.

As far as I'm concerned, if they stand by their word and defend their clients in court as they say they will, then they are good to go. If they want to preach trash ideas to the gun community, then there is ample opportunity for a rival firm to drink their milkshake. Of course, if their leadership starts directly donating to anti-gun politicians (BRCC) or lobbying for anti-gun laws in order to achieve a monopoly/guaranteed business model (USCCA and other insurance orgs/safe companies), then my money will go elsewhere.
@CptFUNK1Күн бұрын
The "fire in a crowded theater" argument is and always has been BS. What gun controllers are arguing there is that a potential bad action justifies the banning of a physical object. In other words, a deranged person murdering numerous innocent people justifies the banning of the weapon that enabled that action to take place. To be intellectually honest and equal to this example, government would be justified in banning the use of the word "fire" in every instance whatsoever, as this is the equivalent to the gun bans that they propose. This of course, is completely absurd. Prosecute the crime and the person that committed it, not the tool.
