There's another massive issue here. I'm a long haul trucker with an Alabama carry permit, which involved a NICS background check. In order to be legal for carry coast to coast (which is also my driving range) I'd need about 18 permits including my home state permit (which gives me carry rights in two or three states) plus DC plus NY, NJ, CA, MA, NM, OR, IL, WA, CT, RI, SC, MN, NV, NE, DE and MD. That's 18 permits total, most of which have their own training program and because of that, I need to go there at least twice: once to apply, once for training. With travel costs you're talking over $20k to get coast to coast carry rights. It would also take years if you have to work for a living. And we're still not covering the overseas states and territories. (I can't visit the Virgin Islands anyways as I'm married.) Now go look at Bruen footnote 9 >which bans excessive delays and exorbitant feesneither can a coalition of states.< This problem got solved generations ago for drivers licenses and vehicle registration documents, by an interstate compact. Driving isn't a basic civil right. CARRY IS. If the heavy gun control states had looked carefully at Bruen with an eye to what needed changing they could have caught this and formed an interstate carry compact. They could have required people like me to get any permit that involves 16 hours of training to get national carry rights and gotten away with that. As is, what they're doing is flagrantly unconstitutional. It's probably going to be a trucker in court wearing all orange that makes this claim. I've made sure of it by explaining all this in a stickied thread on the truckers subreddit - all 300,000 of them!!! We're going to prove ourselves smarter than the lawyers at CRPA, GOA, NSSF, NRA and FPC combined, >because none of them spotted this argument.< So it hasn't hit any court - yet.

Got my premise license in the Bronx. And what a hassle that was.meanwhile I have my rifle shotgun permit in the Bronx for 32 years..I want to get my ccw permit. I took the 16 hour course but gotta go through all the paperwork that I did for the premise permit…I just don’t have the time to jump through the hoops and pay the nypd another 380.00 I’m just tired of the New York nonsense… gonna sell my house and move to Florida…

I really wish New York state would change this because I am a former resident of New York and even had my pistol permit in New York in the mid-2000s, but I moved to Georgia several years ago and I am still a concealed carrier and would very much like to visit my family up there at some point but this whole problem with States not reciprocating permission for people to carry while traveling through them or staying in them is a big issue for me and I really don't feel comfortable traveling almost 900 MI and staying up there without having a means of personal protection and I'm definitely not going to do it illegally. I really wish they would change this for law-abiding citizens of other states so I can at least have the option to get a permit there again for when I visit.

There are a number of states which don't issue permits to non-residents; however, most of them do recognize permits from other states. That's probably this hasn't been a big enough issue in those states for someone to fight over it.

That's the thing about it. Most "2A Organizations" have no interest in overturning permitting schemes especially in California. They are affiliated with, have holdings or just make way too much money to overturn the CCW Permitting Schemes. It's literally a giant money grab due to Training, application fees, mental evaluations, and attorneys making money off CCW Appeals for denials. In California an attorney will charge $5000 to $10,000 dollars for a CCW Denial Appeal. Do you think they want to overturn the CCW permitting system? Also in California some me issuing agencies use private companies like PERMITIUM to process applications with a standard fee of $125+. Think about it. If you charge $125 and your PRIVATE company processes 100,000 new applications and another 150,000 renewals every year your PRIVATE company is making $62,500,000 every year just processing applications. Then add training, psych evaluations and other fees, you'll see they are making money hands over fist. I would volunteer for a 2A organization and I saw first hand how many in leadership either are CCW trainers or involved with companies that provide training. Michele and Associates do not work pro Bono for members and are one of the ones charging $10,000 just to start an appeal with other fees piling up. Our rights are being sold at a high price and no one wants to do anything about it. I'm looking for an attorney who would use my case and my denial to overturn California's Unconstitutional CCW scheme but not one has any interest. I'm an FFL, highly trained in firearms, range safety officer, DOJ confirmed I can own, possess and buy firearms, no drug or mental health history and nothing in my record that makes me a disqualified person yet the courts still used false allegations from my ex wife and a dismissed case to use towards my denial. The paperwork filed against me using false allegations said "PROSECUTOR REFUSAL" because the investigator knew she was high on drugs and full of crap using the system to try to get back at me for leaving her after she abused my daughter and I found her stash of meth, heroin and syringes.

In NYS there are 62 counties. NYC is comprised of 5 counties. While it is small geographically, it has about half of the entire State's population. As such, NYS law has both exemptions & extra requirements for NYC. Section 400 of the NYS Penal Law requires permits issued outside of NYC to have a special endorsement, usually issued by the NYPD before it is valid for carry inside the City of NY. My permit, issued by the NY State Police, for retired State Troopers is an exemption, is valid ANYWHERE in the State, including NYC.

Eric Adams the NYC Mayor was not being sued. The Northern District was the jurisdiction that the lawsuit was filed. It would benefit any non resident to apply for a NYC Special Carry License which is valid throughout all of New York. This is old news. Clickbait.

According to the August 6th memo in which the NYPD caved in on this issue and allowed people from all over the country to apply in New York City, the case law that broke them was Rahimi. Rahimi says the state can disarm somebody only based on their own violent misconduct. >>Higbee's residence in PA isn't misconduct.

Let me make that more clear: Illinois has decided that IF they approve of YOUR state's gun control laws, they'll allow you to obey ILLINOIS carry laws. As an Alabama resident, Illinois does NOT approve of my state's laws, therefore I can't apply for the IL permit.
