Agreed, but NHL is a scam, anyone who has been using it for a while has seen it cause the same damage as cement. Also plenty of studies showing it’s incompatibility. Forget the marketing, it’s not what was used to build these walls, doesn’t not behave the same and should not be used when a suitable mix is so easily made the traditional way. We don’t need fancy new products, stick to what was used originally on these buildings and use quicklime.

1,1,6 is breathable and acts the same as nhl 2 if you use a higher grade it will harden over time and produce the same result as the old 1 opc to 4 sand.

Think you will find that’s still lime in those arch bricks, most of those faces have gone due to the softness of the brick, not necessarily because of cement pointing, not all of them anyway

Your a very good bricklayer not many left not that I’m on that level atall but the setting out attention to detail etc an obviously the quality of the end product is all top notch most people just blag it as they go an almost make it up en route only met a couple of people like yourself an your fellow KZbinr Rob songer check him out if you havnt already even you will b impressed with his work you 2 are the only people I’ve seen in here not just slashing it up quick as possible he’s also very good with the geometry etc if you 2 worked together u could probably build the Taj Mahal lol

I noticed a lot of my brick videos based in the UK always have red brick buildings. Ive yet to see a brick building thats been white washed (with lime). Is this bad to do to bricks, or do the English just prefer au naturale?

@@timcoolican459 hydraulic lime nhl3.5 The sand is better washed as to much clay content will not help the lime cure and if you have some grit in original add accordingly 👍🏻

@@MrBobchat if it’s lime mortar and it’s moderate exposure use nhl3.5 in 3:1 ratio but use a washed sand and pick a sand with the correct amount of aggregate or add in sharp sand accordingly to suit current mortar 👍🏻

I think most of the damage was done between the 70's and 90's due to a shortage of real trained guys. I've seen so much damage done by OPC in old builds!

@@MrBobchat lime mortar and it’s not as straight forward as you think. Everyone getting injecting damp because there houses have damp inside. But this is the main issue. I would get a specialist out there is all different types of lime material

To all young lads, watch what this guy does, still rolls his muck, focuses hard on a perfect even bed looking like 11mm. Hardest blocks to lay in the hot sun but he doesn't struggle, rubs it down to the line and moves on. No tapping, no lump hammer, just smooth block laying. Why? All in the perfect bed. Lay an 11mm consistent bed, put the block on and you can rub it down 1mm. Easy when you follow the rules.
