I have eaten cracker soup in the 70s. Lightly butteted saltines with boiling water drizzled over. Still warms my heart.

My husband and I are Pagan and refer to the holiday as Yule. Since you also have Hanukkah and Kwanzaa that month, the term “holidays” covers all of them, making them all equal. However, if someone wishes me a Merry Christmas, it is the spirit in which it is given that’s more important than the words themselves, and we will react accordingly. December is a busy month for everyone, and no one should feel left out in the cold because of a few words. Enjoy it no matter how you celebrate the holidays in December.

My parents, grandparents, and other kinfolk during these years here in Oklahoma had gardens and livestock when times were hard and they ate what they could especially if they had a big family and I heard a lot of stories about what they had f they couldn't afford to to get anything from the stores. thanks for the memories.😋😋😋😋 🇺🇲🧀🍅🥕🧅🍞🇺🇲

"Sending a holiday card was a tradition that many people ( *exspecially within the Black community, ) eagerly anticipated each year. I find the statement in ( ) to be unfounded. Growing up my family (white on my mothers side & Portugees on my fathers side) gave great importants to the giving and Recieving of Christmas cards. It was are way of saying "You are in my thoughts" Over the years and through the web our family has saddly fazed out this tradition. I how ever sit buy and give Holiday & Birthday cards to close friends and family

My Great Grandparents, Grandparents and now parents house has a coal room and chute. By the time my brother and I came around we used it as a wood room and chute for the wood furnace. We also have a laundry chute 😊

Here in Sweden I'm quite sure that when our "Post" made the stamps so expensive, people stop sending christmas card. And handmade Advent Calenders are something that I hear people do nowadays!

Ah-hem….excuuuuse me. I STILL use special fine China for Christmas dinner. And, I still cook the traditional Christmas dinner. I refuse to call Christmas “the holidays” and I even still have a silver tree, it’s not my main tree though.

How are people supposed to keep Christmas traditions alive when people like this guy are too afraid to even use the word Christmas too describe the traditions. This guy goes on and on about past traditions. Yet he doesn’t even have the courage to use the word “Christmas”. He says things like holiday decorations or going holiday shopping. It’s Christmas shopping and Christmas decorations.

I remember my late grandmother's lemon meringue pie, rice pudding, custard pie and pumpkin pie so well. I never had a decent piece of pumpkin pie since she died 25 years ago because her's was the very best in my opinion. This vid actually made me tear up a bit as I still miss her. My late mother was the one who baked chocolate chip and sugar cookies. Every Christmas we had an abundance of them and she would give out packages of them to family and friends. I know how to make all that they did, but it's never quite as good as theirs.

I send out at least 50 Christmas cards every year. We also string popcorn and cranberries. We put them on the trees around the yard for the birds. And we use Great Great Grandma's Spode china for Christmas dinner. I'm always amazed at how large that set of china is! There's one plate that's just a little wonky. You can only see it when the plates are stacked. It's become a tradition that whoever gets the wonky plate does the dishes! With close to 20 of us, there's a lot of dishes to hand wash. Because Grandma's china never goes in the dishwasher. 😆 I really hope the Grands, and GreatGrands to come, will continue our families traditions.

Hopefully, another episode of this truly remarkable program will eventually produce a follow-up edition. And, if there is going to be a second installment of this series, then - by all means, a really great television show that deserves to be recognized in this manner would most definitely have to be The Monkees.

you forgot to mention gas propelled cars. Back in the '80s. You had to pump liquid fuel into your car for it to go. Now, you just charge it like you charge your phone or laptop. No fumes. No hazardis liquid

Growing up, the wine steward in the food shop would spot my father in the mens department. She would quickly gather up his standard order and had samples to expand his order. Mom would take me and my brother to the short order chefs. She would negotiate out a picnic for us to enjoy on our way home. Something we did nearly once a month for years.
