I joined the UNITED STATES NAVY in MARCH 1983 and I became ACTIVE DUTY in JANUARY 1984 . After Navy boot camp and all of the various military schools , I was stationed in NAVAL AIR STATION ROTA , SPAIN in June 1985 . I worked on the day shift in my shop and in the morning I went to this bar / restaurant called "BAR LAS CHICHARRONES" ( PORK CRACKLINS ) that was open at 6:00 A.M. for my morning cup of coffee (espresso ) . Some time later on my co-worker and lady friend "Veronica" joined me for a cup of coffee . We were the only two Americans in this bar / restaurant ! I did not know that "CHICHARRONES" were pork cracklins ( in English ) until after I left Spain .

x I used to live in Charleston, South Carolina, a state with a strong barbecue tradition. x 18:52 I have had beef tongue in tacos before, though I am not sure if it was barbecued.
