I own Affinity an use it daily. I laid out my last four books on it, including our best-seller "Agatha Christie, She Watched." I even bought their upgrade. And I dumped my Vegas Pro for Davinci Resolve (and I'm a noob when it comes to video editing) so I could edit my podcasts. I even made a 3-minute introduction to my wife's lecture using clips from Christie movies, and it looks like something a beginning video editor would create (and if you knew me, that's a compliment).

The perpetual license structure with a discount to upgrade to a new major version is one of the things that kept me using Vegas Pro for so long. It was only a switch to Linux that stopped me using Vegas Pro because it wasn't supported. I ended up learning DaVinci Resolve because it's free, at least for a personal user. If affinity ever makes a Linux package for their software, I will buy it immediately. No questions asked. Even if I keep using GIMP and Inkscape as my primary photo tools.

Those PWAs should be banned. When I start an app I expect it to start an app not a browser window. It encourages lazy and incompetent programmers. Ever since irobot stopped being an app it can no longer be used without an internet connection and the lag is so bad you have no chance to stop your robot before it literally "S...t hit the fan!"

Darktable is a decent alternative to Lightroom.

What really bugs me is.. they label the connection as having “limited compatibility” if you have different names for ssid’s for the different bands and they slash your bandwidth by half!!! I like using different ssid names to separate the bands devices are using in an easy way Now i have to use a single ssid and look for the band the device is using to ensure proper file transfer or download speeds… UGHHHHHH!

I have the M3 Macbook pro, I didn't even bat an eyelid at the M4 as I was thinking the same logic as you! With a Wifi 7 router and the iphone 16 having wifi 7 compatibility, I expected the macbooks would have gotten it also. I'm running nas also, but time will tell if they do this wifi 7 for future models

I bought Affinity Photo back after the Adobe TOS change but unfortunately haven't used it all that much because I wanted it as a Lightroom replacement and without having a proper photo catalog type feature like Lightroom has, it just isn't as fluid for me to use. Using third party tools to do it and flipping back and forth just adds enough friction that I don't want to do it. Also I keep running into issues with trying to flip between editors like Topaz apps or Luminar.....so I just go back to Lightroom instead.

Canva has poor security and has had major data leaks including full password leaks. I'm not real excited to trust anything with them.

I trust Canva does acquisitions intelligently and with respect to the existing user base of the acquired company, unlike terrible, clueless companies like Oracle.

Affinity is great... but Canva (company+software) is straight trash.

Affinity Publisher is excellent! I use it to lay out books and documents for print and I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with the software. And I got it for only 30 bucks!

I wouldn't say gimp is an alternative for Photoshop, but I've been using Darktable over Lightroom and it's pretty good. Also inkskape is a good replacement for illustrator

Okay this is how we show Nintendo not to push us around. Nintendo wouldn't even be a company if it wasn't for customers who purchase their systems and their games. For at least the first 2 years, after the release of the switch 2, nobody purchase the switch two, or any games for it. Everybody go on strike against Nintendo by not purchasing the switch two. Then we have some people in the KZbin community, after Nintendo notices that their sales are doing horrible on the switch two, do videos explaining to Nintendo why people aren't purchasing their consoles, telling them that people are sick of them throwing their weight around with their money. Nintendo should be working better with the community that they need in order to keep afloat. Not suing emulators, Pal world, and just being petty in general. Nintendo needs us, but they're showing that they don't really care about their community. Just like the guy in this video is talking about.

So... I am someone who uses Adobe daily, and I tried Affinity, I really tried. It is nice... But not as good as people sell it online. I hope for them to get better, but it is not there yet (for me). I hope Canva has intention to keep it up, but I have a feeling M&As hardly go as intended

I’ve honestly found Canva rlly frustrating to work with, because it doesn’t have professional features, but I hope that this makes affinity much more widespread and easier to collab with.

I'm currently a motion designer and i'm absolutely desperate for AE to have competition specifically. There are other animation apps but they all serve different purposes and ultimately i keep having to go back to AE to polish things up. And it's so industry standard within all studios unless you're a 3d artist, but even within 3d, the C4D to AE pipeline has took over despite blender being fantastic to work with.

Maybe more people would adopt programs like affinity photo Opie and other alternatives to Adobe if they knew that it essentially did the same things in a familiar fashion! IOW, developers should find a way to copy ALL of the features is of Adobe, in a way that does not violate patent rights.
