Yamaha 👍 This is my main snare!! I have played a variety of high end snare drums for over 50 years and this has to be the best I have ever played bar none. In my opinion this is the only snare drum you’ll ever need! 🤘😎🥁🔥👍

Wow! The Canopus at the low tuning almost sealed it for me! The George way drum in both tunings and especially w/room mikes only was the winner for me. I was surprised at how much I liked them all. I’ve recently been hell bent on metal snare drums!! The Tama and Yamaha were both very nice in all arrangements and tunings but the George Way was a clear standout for me. 1. George Way 2. Canopus 3. Tama 4. Yamaha

I really prefer the lower tunings for all of them 1. Yamaha 2. Tama 3. George Way 4. Canopus All sound great!
@bassplate3 ай бұрын
Tama #1. This was a tough one, though! One overtone, C(4) is evident in the low tunings of both the Tama and the Yamaha, but in the high tunings the D(4) overtone is much more evident in the Tama than in the Yamaha (even though they both have it). This difference is easier to hear in the room mic sound. The Yamaha speaks freely when tuned low, but it gets very dry when tuned high. The Tama has so much character, and when you mix in those overtones with the powerful fundamental pitch that bubinga gives it, it really shines! Bubinga, with its high density, maintains its character across all tunings.

From an overall well-roundedness standpoint and range that's pleasant across the board, my vote goes to the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple

Thanks for drumbling! I love this series. I loved all the drums this week, but the Yamaha seemed like the best all-around drum, as well as the best fit in my small bar classic rock world. So Yamaha it is.

That Tama is simply incredible. So warm and controlled yet still the perfect amount of attack and overtones. Easy winner to me

You guys really put some work into this one. Exotic, hybrid, alternative, etc, woods are a challenge to work with, but the results are beautiful. Whenever I come across a wood-hybrid snare, I’m initially skeptical, but almost always surprised. Maybe there’s something wrong with me. Anyway. My vote is for the Tama.

Yamaha (30.6 Share of Preference) George Way (28.6 SOP) Tama (24.5 SOP) Canopus (16.3 SOP) Evaluated solely on sound, with no points for aesthetics. To my ear/speakers the differentiator was the Yamaha AHM retained more crispness and was less thuddy than the others. With the 8" depth, George Way was surprisingly crisp and was a close second.

That really is a tough bracket! I think for overall usability I have to give the edge to the Canopus, but the George Way and Tama are very close. The Way is probably my favorite sound of them all, and that green finish absolutely pops. The Yamaha is a quality drum, but clearly the tail end of this four-way comparison.
@Ergo-Drummer3 ай бұрын
Tama - Solid sound in both tunings. And the snare wire response on Tama drums are always second to none!! For character and vibe in a song though, the George Way was pretty nice on the low tuning. And the Canopus had some nice shell pop on the high tuning.

This round of Drumble was tough! 1. Tama--it sounded perfect "out of the box"(?)--of course the drum is tuned up but sounded like it was naturally muffled just enough 2. Canopus--at low tuning it sounded fat, a luscious tone--high tuning was almost equally as pleasant 3. Yamaha--all around great tones 4. George Way--it sounded good

I'd personally use (and afford) the Yamaha - that's my vote. Of the deeper snares the George Way competed suprisingly well against the much more expensive Tama. I was surprised by how dry the Canopus sounded.

What a nice lineup to compare. To my ears they have to go in this order: Canopus, Tama, Yamaha, GW (but toss up on the last two).

VERY evenly matched drums in this round, which made this one fairly difficult. To my old, abused, half-deaf ears, there were three drums that were so evenly matched it's a 3-way tie, so going by sound alone there is no way to pick a favorite, leaving aesthetics alone as the tie-breaker, thus making the Canopus snare my choice out of the group of three which had been tied for 2nd place. This means that the one drum that barely edges out the other three for me is the Tama. This drum just had a tone which was a bit warmer, richer, and more-focused with a full & meatier attack. Plus, it just so happens to be the best-looking drum of the four...IMO. TAMA WINS!
