Make sure you reboot after installing the plug in. After thats complete you can adjust TDP with the slider in the plugin.

I’m glad you enjoyed the intro. Nobara OS is a Linux distro meant to mimic Steam OS. It’s the closest thing we have to a general release of Steam OS.

So basically, it is a modified Linux with some tools and console like UI, which in the end runs Steam client to play games? So in theory if I take any Linux (with drivers support for my HW) and install just a Steam client on it, it will play games basically the same as it would in SteamOS?

Yup that’s all working. The gyro requires emudeck to be installed.

That’s correct suspend works great and there is minimal battery drain.

I did ChimeraOS on my laptop and I can attest that it improved my battery life and it does suspend mode.

Thank you! I'm planning a bunch of additional content to stay tuned. I'll try to answer your questions one by one. I am not dual booting. I have swithced completely over to Nobara OS Steam Deck Edition. Nobara OS has to be installed on the device you're going to use it on. There are a lot of unique hardware components that need to be configured. I would recommend installing on the internal storage for 2 reasons. Running an OS on an SD card can lead to a slow experience as the tranfer rates from SD Cards is significantly lower than internal storage. Also, the heat generated from running an OS on an SD card could lead to failure of the card and loss of your data. The idea behind Emudeck is a platform for emulation that builds in tweaks and changes to the configuration to emulators for specific devices. In linux Emudeck supports the Steam Deck and Win 600. In Windows Emudeck supports a bunch of windows handhelds. The Steam Deck config in linux works really well with the GPD Win Mini. It also works well with the ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and the GPD Win 4. I can't speak about the Windows experience with Emudeck. I only tested it once, and was not impressed with the performance, however that was the beta version. Emudeck is specifically designed to work with the Steam Deck, it has been configured to work with that device on Linux. It also runs well on ther 7840u SOC because of the similarities. I can't say for sure, but I think the more you stray away from the Steam Deck configuration, the less the advantages will be. As far as I know Emudeck cannot be moved around from one device to another, because of the nature of the way it is customized for each device I don't think it's portable like that but I've never tried it before so I can't say for sure. There is a backup feature within emudeck where you can backup your settings files and save games to Google Drive or One Drive or other cloud services and then restore the backup on any other device. I think I have to try this out then on the Win mini, but I also need to be able to run windows on it for work and productivity reasons. Would it hamper the experience much at all to dual boot the two OS and simply configure the hardware for each of them or is that not really possible? This will be my first time messing with different OS and potentially attempting to dual boot so I am sorry if the questions are foolish! @@Arcade1983

The linux install has far better direct integration with the hardware and I've found much better performance in linux.

With TDP control, you can get a lot of battery life out of the device. If you're playing more demanding games that will shorten the battery life significantly however.

@@Arcade1983 but does this OS consume less battery than Windows, so you can get more gaming time with likewise performance if you're on this OS rather than Windows?

@@kevk1766 The hardware will use the same amount of wattage no matter what OS you are on. The differance here is, linux uses far fewer resources in the background so you can turn the TPD down and still get the same performance.

I did not setup a dual boot. I switched totally over to Linux and honestly found it to be a great experience.

Hey thanks for watching the video. The need for a heatsink is really dependant upon how hard youre going to push the Ally and the Make and Model SSD you're using. For my gaming habits I don't really push the hardware that often and the SSD I purchased runs relatively cool. You can add a low profile headsink with no other modification however.

No, when you started using it. I have Hercules hands. You have hobbit hands. Completely understandable. The Ally is still a piece of trash. Asus has always been a low tier laptop brand. Nothing special folks. SD card readers blowing up all over the place. Trash trash trash.

I returned mine too for a different reason. The single fan had a high pitch whine to it even on silent mode. On performance mode it was even worse. I got the ally a few days ago because of the discount and I had no idea this handheld would be perfect for me. The fan noise is dead quiet and the speakers are next level loud. SD card issue doesn't bother me as I'm not intending to ever use it.

Its searches for box are from the internet is downloads it automatically on your device. You can also direct it to a local file if you want to. Yes it will also play videos for roms and platforms.

I am also using lexar NM790 :) without heatsink works fine at normal usage. Get up to 75 C when finish downloading large game or Crystal Diskmark.

Well it really depends on what country you live in. In the US, the 4G modem is compatible with ATT Tmobile and Verizon, however the 4G LTE service is much slower on Verizon as it connected to older 4G bands.
