Congrats to Mike Woods. Must note that he was 4th in the Olympics with only one teammate against the 4 man teams of Belgium and France.

Vuelta already the best GT of the year!! It's still all to play for. Seeing O'Connor, Mas and Carapaz so strong is awesome. And, of course, WvA doing WvA things.

100% agree.

The Tour is the biggest. But the Vuelta is the best. All the mishaps and bad luck of the season give riders chips on their shoulders. That something to prove makes for fantastic racing.

The problem for Enric Mas, Carapaz and Landa is the last stage, 24 km of ITT, they will not gain time on Roglic, on the contrary, I bet they'll loose at least 30 seconds, or more. So, if Roglic doesn't loose time on the mountains, his second place is garanteed. However, this is the vuelta, everything can happen!!!

Love that is all over the place, riders more equal, and attacking left and right, most interesting tour of the year 👌😍

Very well spoken. Long time watcher of Eddie. Many years ago Sean Kelly said Eddie needed to race smarter. A few years ago Eddie would have messed this up by going too early, he finally realised he is a racer.

62000 for all the race, when the tour had 56000 , and the Giro had 47000 !!! Brutal !!!

This is turning out to be the most enjoyable GT this year by far, still no idea who will walk away with the red jersey by the end of it.

Rouvy currently has around 25 routes based around this year's Vuelta. I rode Alto da Groba this afternoon whilst racing Castrol Caldelas Monday evening followed by Avo as a recovery. Sunday morning I raced Cuitu Negru and then raced Rivabellosa in the afternoon (I also followed that with a recovery ride up Castrol Caldelas without realising I had that planned for Monday's race. Saturday was an easy ride up stage 14 of the 2022 vuelta. Jaen Thursday was another race at Rivabellosa. Wednesday was a visit to Cabeza la Vaca and then last Monday was a recovery ride up Teixeira which followed a race at the stage 16 route through Gijon. Last Sunday I also rode Gijon as well as Arganil. I also raced Haro in the afternoon whilst the morning race was actually Bica da Cana in Madeira. I still have the following routes to complete the 3 Rouvy challenges going on right now Stage 17 - Boo de Piélagos Stage 10 - Alto De Fontefria Stage 13 - Balboa (think I am racing this on Thursday Stage 15 - Alto de la Colladiella Stage 17 - Alto del Caracol Stage 18 - Alto de Rivas de Tereso Stage 20 - Portillo de La Sia * Stage 9 - Puerto de Hazallanas Stage 11 - Padrón Stage 12 - Valilongo to Cabeza de Manzaneda Stage 13 - Porto de Ancares Stage 16 - Lagos de Covadonga Stage 17 - Santander Stage 18 - Puerto de Herrera Stage 19 - Alto Moncalvillo Stage 20 - Picón Blanco * Some of these will probably be repeated as I will probably use some them as post race recovery routes - but then use the gradient image tool in veloviewer to study those routes prior to any races. btw. Could you let Ollie know that if he still has a Rouvy account - he is going to love Cuitu Negru. Route is 40km. the first 20km is quite flat whilst the second 20km is kind of like lots of steep steps of around 10% mixed with 5% recovery bits. Right up at the top though - around the 38km / 39km marker and you are hitting 24% + For comparison (long flat then long climb) it reminded me of the plateau de Beille climb. geeze. just realised how long this message is. No wonder I can't hear you chatting away. The video ended.

Vuelta is till now far more interesting than the Tour or the Giro
@MV-XD23 ай бұрын
I’ve always loved the Vuelta. The most interesting grand tour because the Tour winner usually skips it, and the Giro winner often doesn’t have this as a priority. It’s also the last chance saloon for those trying to save their season (well done Wout) and riders likely to be out of contract. Like many I thought Primoz was going to walk it but once again the Vuelta brings the drama. At this point I genuinely have no idea who will win, and yes it could be any one of four to five riders - how often have we been able to say that recently? I’d love to see Enric Mas finally prove he can step up from GC contender to winner. The problem with picking a winner is that every one of the GC contenders has been known to have more than one off day in grand tours. Can’t wait to see what happens.

Last day. Primoz can take some time off O'Conner in time trial. He was 35 sec faster than OConner in just 12.5km. But I doubt he wants to wait until the last day to get the lead.

Hi Dan, I miss you from the Discovery commentary. I had a thought last week concerning the weather. Nathan Van Huydonk had a heart attack and had to quit the peleton. Last week riders were caused to work hard in ambient temperatures higher than normal body blood temperature for healthy people. Could working in these extreme weather conditions bring on heart problems such as those experienced by Nathan and could the riders be storing up heart problems for the future?

@2:50 What does a Mexican Standoff mean? I am Mexican in San Diego, CA. I heard Mexican and I thought you were going to mention Isaac Del Toro. Del Toro is from a town in Mexico less that 100 miles south from San Diego. There is a fun amateur race from Rosarito to Ensenana that's been going on for decades. Fifty miles along the Pacific Coast and nothing but tacos and beer along the way....

I'm loving it but gutted not on ITV4 with Boulting and Millar commentary as Hatch, Kirby and Kelly are awful. Wout Van Aert just fantastic and Kuss did a fantastic job for him. My virtual tenner is on Roglic for GC win. O'Connor will be reeled in.
