@sniperxbow60 Жыл бұрын
BITSNBOBS, I wouldn't say that it gives me a psychological advantage, other than I know that I'm not putting a possible sub par pellet in the mix. I don't remember if I mentioned it in this particular video, but in an Exact JSB 8.44 grain tin, I've found weights between 8.07 grains on the low side, up to 8.74 grains on the high side. That alone will, or could give me a miss on a 55 yard Field Target. Add inconsistent head size into the equation, plus a larger/smaller skirt size as well, and you could possibly have pellets out of the tin, if not sorted, vary more than 50 FPS. That's a large number to be off, particularly when a decent wind is involved. I would say by me sorting them in this order: first weight, then head size, then skirt size, is my normal regimen for a big match. For a local, or club match, I might not go to those extremes, and sometimes my score shows for it. I would say psychological wise, it doesn't give me an advantage, as much as peace of mind knowing that the pellets that I am using, are culled to almost perfection.

What is the string hooked up to?
@sniperxbow60
@sniperxbow60 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I forgot to highlight that detail. On the end of the regulator, there is a screw that protrudes from the regulator. This is not an adjustment screw, it's just there to fill the threads, and let the air through a little bit slower. The string is tied to this screw, and that's the string you see me tucking in at the end, when the regulator is bottomed out, the string is long enough to extend past the tube. I am tucking the string in before putting the cap on with the Foster fitting. In the future, I won't have to disassemble the entire gun in order to take the regulator out. Just remove the end fitting, fish out the string, and pull out. This is handy if you want to quickly adjust the regulator pressure until it suits your needs.

Interested about the bleed hole. Can you measure the thickness of the waste lead coming through the bleed hole? I'm actually interested in the size of the bleed hole in your mold. Many thanks
@sniperxbow60
@sniperxbow60 Жыл бұрын
I will measure the lead from the bleed hole in a day or two, in process of moving, bit of chaos. I can tell you that Dave Corbin will reccomend the bleed hole size, depending upon how the nose will form of a given caliber,.........or not. My first set of dies had to be sent back, because the bleed hole was too large, and the lead did not flow properly in order to build up pressure to make a perfect nose. Different calibers will also require/need different size bleed holes in order for the lead to flow properly when compressed. I'll take a measurement and get back to you.

This is a hollowpoint, the die is a point forming die. The hollowpoint punch is on the bottom of this die, and the base punch is on the top. The only adjustable part of the die is the base part. If you look at my website fieldtargettech.com, you can see better pictures of the hollowpoint nose.

@@sniperxbow60 I did like the video. Question: On the T Robb video, can you tell me more about that straw thing and how you used it to calibrate the T Robb? More specifically, how do you know what length to cut it? (sorry, got my vids crossed on this question)
@sniperxbow60
@sniperxbow60 Жыл бұрын
@@ramvan2284 , What I did, was find a pellet that was a measured 4.52 in my Pelletgage measuring device. As I said in that video, I cut the skirt off, because I'm only concerned with the head of the pellet. I took the adjustment screw of the TR Robb sizer, and backed it all (or most of the way) out. I glued the straw to the head of the pellet, ( actually, just behind the head), and dropped it in. When the pellet head stops on it's own, due to gravity, I cut the straw off flush with the top of the die. I then placed the top of the die onto the board. I then slowly adjusted the screw, until I felt resistance, but not moving the pellet head. This is now adjusted properly, for future pellets going into the die.

@sniperxbow60
@sniperxbow60 Жыл бұрын
@@belindaclaytor3912 all of my swaging equipment is made by Corbin, including the press. The dies I use in the Corbin press will not fit in any standard reloading press. Corbin does make dies that can be used in a standard reloading press, but particularly with larger calibers, you would physically have a tough time doing it. Corbin presses have a cam like action that makes the process a lot easier than a reloading press. You could probably get away with .177, maybe .22, but not larger. I haven't tried any type of dry lube, and I probably won't, the Krytech and Pledge work well. They actually do dry, as both of these lubes are a true wax.

Can these dyes or molds be used in a regular regular reloading press maybe a Hornady or leave or RCBS press? Or will they only work and a Corbin style press
@sniperxbow60
@sniperxbow60 Жыл бұрын
These particular dies will only fit Corbin swaging equipment. They can make dies for regular reloading presses, but there is an extra step involved. Also, a Corbin press has a greater mechanical advantage over a standard reloading press. This same process in a reloading press is much more difficult, taking much more time and more physical effort

have you ever noticed if your washing and waxing process adds dings to skirts or heads of pellets? have you tried hBn (hexagonal Boron Nitride) for lubing at all?
@sniperxbow60

I have not used hBn for lubing. I use either Krytech, Pledge, or nothing. All of my barrels do not necessarily like lube, but many do. In the washing process, I do not notice any skirt deformation, or dings on the heads. I sort them in several different ways, so I know my pellets are all 100% going into the washing and lubing process. I have a cheap, but good Amazon microscope/ high power magnifying glass that I inspect the domes with. I usually only inspect them this way for major Grand Prix matches or nationals.

When you take the valve off the front of the airtube, I noticed that you took off and replaced the black crosman thread tape. Is there anything special to do when you take that off? I need to replace mine with yellow gas tape to rule out a slow leak. My last effort will be to replace the gauge. I replaced all of the orings. I have re taped the gauge. Still have the leak so I wanna try changing the tape on the fill port. Is there anything special to do when doing this?

Dutch, I use plain white Teflon tape, and a lot of it. Sometimes it will still leak, and might take 2-3 tries. No special trick, just a hit or miss thing. Some guys use a Permatex thread sealant instead (kind of what Crosman uses), but I find it too messy.
