What's funny to me is reading the comments on the original video where you asked for Super Sonic and Sonic & Tails in Sonic 1, and everyone whined at you about lore, and for Sonic Origins Plus SEGA said "screw lore" and made Amy playable in every game.

Why does it need patching? The first Sonic game doesn't need a seventh emerald. Super Sonic first appearing legitimately Sonic 2 was a big part of irs appeal. Knuckles was playable in Sonic 1 already with S&K so it makes sense to add Tails.

Knuckles wasn't playable in Sonic 1 until the 2013 mobile release where Tails first appeared in that game as well. It's not that any of these games 'need' anything added, but new additions in a collection like this help the product stand out from all the countless other re-releases of the classic games. Sometimes new features are just fun to use. But there's an inconsistency in what changes they decided to go through with.

Agreed with everything except for needing a second new PC. Amy is the only character from these original games that wasn't playable. Now she is, there isn't anyone else to add who wouldn't be out of place. Metal is the closest you could get, but having the antagonist's be playable isn't something integral to the OG games; but having Sonic's friends be playable WAS.

One thing I really wish would have been added would be a new animated outro for Knuckles' playthrough in S3&K. I don't mind not having individual animations for every character in every game, that would be kind of excessive, but Knuckles' story is a big enough deal in S3&K that it'd make sense to have something separate for him.

I think a lot of this odities come from the lack of colours and graphical power of the sega genesis,the color palettes that the genesis can show on screen is very little,and when loading new colors on too it it takes up quite a big amount of rendering from the cpu and color ram,taking up the color ram way too easily,causing graphical glitches when loading new colours,such as a line of colour found on the bottom on the screen,on real hardware on a crt when playing sonic 1,over the blue background for unrendered screen space,1 pixel below the rendered screen a line of random colors appears changing whenever new colors appear,this is just 1 effect of the color ram filling up and unfillwing way too quickly,certain color shades were kept too lower the charge on the section of the ram made for color rendering,on very fast moving objects for example developers could get away with using the same colors and shades to avoid loadong new colors on screen,lowering lag and decreasing the load on the color ram,a sega genesis game developer at the time made a demo showing images on sega genesis with 256 colors,surpassing by a lot the colors showable on screen,and he didnt do 500+ because internet images at the time were hard to find with more than 256 colors,he did it trough filling the screen up with glitched color graphics from over loading the color ram,altough on most games it only showed up in the lower part of the screen outside the rendered space,it was because it was kept low on used space to aboid this glitches,but if filled enough it can show up in the whole screen,by filling the color ram with useless data and modifying the overflowing data on the color ram he was able to make this images,he was a developer for disney and other big companies,he was a developer for mickey mania and toy story,this demo then got used for the cutscenes in toy story,i dont remember his name,but he has a youtube channel in which he talks about developing for the snes and sega genesis,i will be leaving the name of his channel in the response to this comment

How's that obvious? got any sources? It all depends on each individual contract and who owns the rights. Nakamura still gets royalties from every re-release of Sonic 1 and 2. Also, the voice clips were present in the 2011 version of Sonic CD, so there would be little reason to pay for the voice then but not now. Though it's unlikely voice actor royalties have anything to do with their decision.

That proves nothing. it's not even a link to anything tangible, just a google search. Every contract is different. Some work is commissioned by a company with the understanding that the company owns it fully and can do anything with it so long as they still own the rights. Other works are joint ownerships, and some things are a one-time license. Without seeing any contract or confirmation about Sonic's voice usage in Sonic CD, it is only a speculation that they omitted the voice lines due to royalties. That is a guess not backed by anything substantial, and only spreads even more misinformation about minute details revolving this series.

As a kid, the teleporter didn't always work on Carnival Night Zone, I would have to run back as Knuckles and clime the tubes and fight the boss, I never worked out why this would happen, sometimes Knuckles just wanted to fight the boss

The reason why sonic 3&k music changed was from the allegations of sega and Michael Jackson making music for sonic 3 and since sega doesn’t have the contract to the music that Michael Jackson made for sonic 3 so they had to change the music and the music they made is in the pc port so they ask someone reorganized the prototype music and I’ve been told that the person did it lazy that’s why the music sound a bit bad from the prototype.

I think it was patched shortly after the Origins Plus update, but if you already had cleared saves you could still mess around with this until you restart the file

Sonic origins is a remaster, not a remake, that's why in super sonic isn't in sonic 1, also their not gonna patch the cheats cuz cheating is not allowed in any games

The mobile versions are most definitely remakes, as they were rebuilt in a new engine. Origins contains these versions with some additional changes added to them. They had all the power to add Super Sonic to Sonic 1 if they had wanted to, regardless of their status of a remake or remaster. Amy was added to all the games anyway, proving additional changes could be made. I'm not sure what you mean by patching cheats, but cheats have been in these games since the very first one. My complaint about cheats was how something like Tails with Sonic is locked to the cheat menu, when a Knuckles and Tails mode is available by default in Sonic 2, or how Super Sonic is locked to the cheat menu in Sonic 1 (even in anniversary mode) When a base Super Tails was added to Sonic 3 without cheats. It's the inconsistency that's the biggest problem here.

Sonic Origins contains plenty of non-canon additions within Anniversary Mode. Tails should not be on South Island at that time, and he definitely shouldn't be going up against Robotnik, but he is here. Knuckles should not be on south Island, and he shouldn't even know Robotnik yet, as he is later tricked by him in Sonic 3. Amy also shouldn't be on South Island. Knuckles and Amy both should not be on West Side Island at that time, and again, shouldn't know Robotnik yet. Knuckles should have no idea who Tails is, but they are on the same team if you choose them both from the selection screen. Amy running through the levels of Little Planet doesn't make any sense because she is meant to be captured by Metal Sonic. Knuckles and Tails also should not be here at all. Tails originally wasn't supposed to be able to turn super by using the normal chaos emeralds, but here he can and later has a hyper form. Amy should not be on Angel Island at all. All of that has way more effect on the story than Sonic obtaining an extra chaos emerald one game earlier so he can turn super one game earlier. But none of this truly is a big deal if you don't read into it too much. None of the actual stories are being changed. the original games still remain unaffected. The changes within Origins can be looked at as fun little extras, borrowing mechanics introduced in other games. That's the whole point of Anniversary Mode anyway, adding new things to old games for the fun of it. It's a shame they botched Classic Mode and Story Mode cause that's where you would go if you want the purist experience of the sacred classic sonic stories to be unaffected by minute changes.

@BobbyBionic yeah, the other characters that weren't originally in the games are now playable, but that doesn't make their part of the games they weren't in canon to the story, classic mode still isn't the old versions as in sonic 1 the spike bug still is disabled and the spin dash is still included, which means even the classic modes aren't fully classic, as the classic mode is just anniversary mode in 4:3 without the drop dash and non originally in game characters, classic mode is using the retro engine, in sonic 2 in classic mode the spacial stages are still the mobile version spacial stages in 4:3, also even CD is still the same in classic as in anniversary but without drop dash and with in 4:3, but classic and anniversary modes for CD both use the same settings even though their deferent, change setting in anniversary it gets also changed in classic

So why would character inclusions be any different than the Super form inclusion when it comes to story? It's all non-canon additions. If Tails in Sonic 1 can be viewed as a fun non-canon addition, then the same would apply to a Super Sonic addition. And yeah, all of that is what i meant when i said they botched Classic Mode. 52:50 This is covered in the video anyway. The thing is, no matter what they change within Origins, the original games (On Genesis/Mega Drive) are still, and will forever be unchanged. Any story details included. So why not just go all out and make Origins the most fun it could be regardless of story? That's how i look at it anyway.

there’s a couple things i wish origins did, 1: classic mode are original roms instead of remakes with bars(maybe the pc port rom of s3k for legal), 2: a better menu, I just struggle navigating these menus, like why are there only saves per character and why is so many things hidden in missions menu, 3: a “custom mode” in which you can just have saves with specific things like lives enabled or disabled, drop spin dash enabled or disabled, sonic 1 spikes toggle, tails fly toggle, aspect ratio settings, etc., 4: plus should have been a free major update, it really just should be, 5: they should have implemented menu elements from mania. I have definitely rambled too long with this comment but it feels as though this game was rushed

One thing that I can see that some of you didn’t noticed the differences with Super and Hyper Sonic is Hyper Sonic can use dash attack to any direction by pointing a direction and pressing the jump button while super Sonic does not *EDIT* I’ve also noticed that all character’s hyper form can breathe underwater while super forms does not, in the newer update Amy does have an afterimage but I guess thats just an illusion and she’s on same boat as Knuckles as they only gain the ability to breathe underwater, I guess thats fair for Knuckles that he gets to be the slowest with low jump since he can already glide and climbs walls in order to balance the game, so he doesn’t need any more abilities other than waterbreathing underwater anyway

36:09 I strongly disagree. Carnival Night was _by far_ the worst theme in the game, especially Act 2. The replacement themes are a massive improvement, and it’s not even close.

That's fine, we all have our opinions. The original Carnival Night always was, and still is one of my favorites. Like i say in the video, the new themes aren't really that bad like everyone on the internet acts like they are. and i do think Launch Base's replacement is genuinely better than it's original.
