They have four heroes now, and will double that by full release. Have you at least tried out the previous demos / playtests?

It is really a shame it keeps having that simplified gameplay and look. It makes me think more of this as a MOBA with RTS mechanics rather than full fledged RTS with micromanagement. A lot of companies tend to go for it indie or mainstream alike thinking people want it, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I guess the term would be best described a mobile type of game despite the fact it is clearly desktop. Very excited for AOM Retold, so would probably rather play more of Original AOM before Retold, though i do like the fact more studios are aiming for the Mythology, there is such a huge lack of games that nail that, so perhaps future is opened for more like that.

Looks not bad, but I dont know. I miss some features I really like in those games, like visible upgradeas for armor and weapons for units. Also the unit roster seems a bit lacking in vartiaty. Maybe I am wrong and is better as I think.

Not sure about every unit, but some had visual upgrades (like, at least I can remember skirmishers getting shields on their backs in the demo)

It's impressive that this game was made by only 2 people. Having said that, I wish to see some more factions, more heroes per faction, cooler units like dragons (i know they're generic but they're the reason i love fantasy strategy games)

I see: Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002, Windows) + Populous: The Beginning (1998, Windows) + Age of Mythology (2002, Windows) + StarCraft: Brood War (1999, Windows) + Battle Realms (2001, Windows). And surprisingly all of these were games I liked. But I had to admit I'm not really a fan of this hero idea because the hero is than also your hardest weakness which can easily end up in a snowball effect when your hero dies and you'll die because of the lack of your hero. And no: More heroes don't solve this problem they make it even worse and only make the suffering lasting longer until you end up dying. So this game will also rise or fall with the balancing of the heroes and camps. Hopefully it becomes a good one. Would be a nice one for 1 to 3 years. On the long run it will probably not last because of... well... heroes.

All those are my favorites as well, and while hero gameplay always was an interesting addition, it did produce unique balancing issues. So I totally agree with your assessment. Warlords Battlecry has a few units similar to pukas, like basilisk, assassin, and reaper.
