I lost a black fish at the boat that size over 30 “ in Clinton ct In 2012 it was my first keeper size fish so I was saying man these fish fight hard!!! We thought it was a fish of a life time.

Perfect timing, I’m fishing out of Mattituck inlet, to the east of Hortons point, I have no trouble finding the wrecks that show on Navionics, but when it comes to the rocks, they just don’t show up on my Simrad. Could they be covered up with sand ? Very frustrating any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Isn’t that an Alberto knot? Instead of making the initial loop with the leader line you instead make the starter loop with the main line.

Any thoughts on best tides for certain spots or what side of the structure?
@nextdriftfishing2 ай бұрын
Specific sides of the structure is the game and I'll leave that up to you guys to experiment with. As for tides, I like the tail ends of high and low and dead slack.

General question: do the bigger fish prefer a certain depth in the early and late season?
@nextdriftfishing2 ай бұрын
Great question. My personal opinion, No. I think there are big fish that live shallow and deep all season long. I'm not an expert on Tog migration, but I know there were big fish caught this past weekend in 8 feet of water and 130 feet of water. It's wherever they feel secure and have food. Thanks for watching!

Do you aim to be right over the rocky area or right off the edge of it where the contour ends?
@nextdriftfishing2 ай бұрын
Great question. It all depends on the spot. Usually I look for the biggest individual boulders near the main piece of structure. Sometimes the top of the spot gets blown out by the tide so I try to focus on the areas that give the fish a place to tuck out of the current, then feed. Excellent question

My son and I were out yesterday, we had fish over 17 inches, lots of shorts that were fat. My son caught one 20 inch and one 22.We even got mugged by a small cc that dropped right on my anchor, when he came to we could shake hands, I look at the guy and said really, get out of my spot and off my anchor, I hate when you establish a bite and other boats try to mug you, they never learn, we were east of New Haven, also there were big schools of shad but nothing on them. Love the info. Jay

I do well in the bay with bucktail and teasers during the first half of the season. Once the waters heat up, you need to fish deeper.

Y'all are too greedy with the fishing rod. The person reeling in a fish should pass off the rod before they get tired. That way there's always adequate pressure on the fish. Getting a drink in the middle of reeling in a fish would never happen on my boat. I hate KZbin and all of its censorship!
