You have to cut the perm completely off to get a Japanese thermal reconditioning perm… you can’t intermix the two types of chemicals

When I had a perm I would wash my hair once or twice a week. Of course when I am lazy or tired I may not wash my hair for longer. I don’t like any oils, grease on my hair but when I wash my hair I always used deep conditioner one week and instance the other week. The key is not to have your hand in your hair all the time. I would either air dry my hair and wear it that way or if I blow dry or smooth it after I wash it that is the only time I will add heat to my hair until the next wash. The key is less manipulation to your hair as possible, cover it at night with a silk or satin cloth. I perm my hair myself, condition it myself. Because I got tired of going to the hairdressers and they cutting off all my hair. Because they don’t know what the heck they’re doing. learn and know you’re hair because what one person does may work for them, but it may not work for you just saying. I do agree with the young lady with limited heat keep it condition. As for myself I don’t like any oils on my hair because it makes my scalp itchy and hard to wash out and yes, my hair can grow long if I’m not always cutting it off. I believe the secret to your hair growing is not too much manipulation. Keep it healthy trim when is needed and what you’re using on your hair when you find something that works for you use it and when it no longer works for you find something that does. Hope it helps.

I found that when i got chemical burns from relaxers. My scalp was sensitive scalp. I learned to base/grease my scalp a day before going to the hairdresser. I also went to a dermatologist to heal my scalp.

This style and length looks great on you though. I'd say strengthen it yes, but enjoy it. Its a very flattering look. I went through the same recently and trying to do the same. Hair stylists just tend not too be very gentle with our type of hair. Sometimes you have to just show them how you want your hair handled or get up from the chair. All the best.

I'm relaxed too! I'm like a 3b/c. My hair is about 4 inches from my waist. You would be able to grow your hair longer, if not for 2 things! You're using waay too much unnecessary heat. Your hair is relaxed, you don't need to hot iron it too! Also, wearing a pony regularly is damaging. Especially if you're going to curl it! Dont do that! If you must wear a pony, just use curlers. That's why your hair isn't as long as it should be. Too much heat. Don't use that flat iron for 6 months-- you'll see the difference in length!👍

I wash my hair every 4 days and now I produce more sebum. So I use my natural oils to moisturize my hair by massaging my scalp and pulling those oils down my hair strands each night. I will use my fingers or my silicone brush (small thin parts and brush or rub from root to ends). My relaxed hair remains strong and soft but not oily; and it’s growing nicely. I couldn’t do this with my natural hair. I always had to add moisture every day (water and oil). Otherwise it became brittle and hard and Break off. Silk pressing it wasn’t any better. I’m happy with my relaxed hair. Only problem is it’s time to redo it and I’m afraid of getting relaxer on the part that is already straight by accident and thus over processing it…

And as predictable it's always on the two year mark of relaxers, when they realize their hair will never be as thick and long again as that first time they slapped on that relaxer 😢

After relaxing with Mizani, do you only use mizani products for taking care of it? I relaxed my afro with dark n lovely once and switched to mizani and used the h20 rose daily and my hair just started to fall. Not sure what to do next.

I’ve found that within a week of wrapping my hair every night, my natural sebum has coated my strands. It’s the scalp and hait’s natural moisturizer (IMO). I don’t add any products on my hair after wash day. I don’t like my hair to be weighed down. I roll or wrap my hair every night. When it gets longer, I’ll probably pin curl it instead. I’ve preserved my styles this way for 30 years. I’ve never experienced breakage.
