Nirvana really were a cultural inflexion point. The last massive pre-internet band, whose reputation largely spread the 20th Century way by word of mouth and the music press, yet because of their fin-de-siecle status, there's a huge reservoir of amateur recorded footage which is ripe for social media sharing and digital manipulation and homage. They didn't only straddle the generations and genres, but straddled the zeitgeists.
