I’m surprised they *didn’t* play this one. It was one of Kurt’s own favorites.
@LordPadriac9 ай бұрын
His favorite part of the song was the Sonic Youth tribute he included as the interlude with the rubber chicken, squeaky mouse toy and bop-it. Kurt Loder, who was running Unplugged at the time, let Nirvana get away with a lot that they would not let anyone before or since get away with, such as letting Kurt use a very tempered bit of distortion and an aftermarket, sound hole pickup in his acoustic and a tube amp, but bringing in a tech to play the sound effects with delays and choruses was way further than Loder was willing to stretch even to get Nirvana to do an Unplugged.

@johncollins2115 ай бұрын
I think he purposely picked songs that were less popular on radio or just in general. He definitely chose which ones he thought would sound best acoustic and from those he didn't play any of their big singles and brought out a no name band like the meat puppets and covered 3 whole songs that weren't even nirvana( which I'm sure mtv and his record label hated that at the time but now it's seen as a genius move from nirvana. Drain you isn't really meant for acoustic he probably felt the song wouldnt sound right without distortion and singing a lot softer. He loves the song he wouldn't do anything he felt would make the song sound like it's not on par of the original. All the songs nirvana did all sound just as good or better than studio version. He picked all the right songs of his to play acoustic ones he knew he could murder with his eyes closed. Then took a huge chance on the last song turns out Kurt is a fucking legend and a genius as he kills where did you sleep last night sealing his fate as timeless. If the song he covered is 100 years old it's already timeless and Kurt cemented the song never being forgotten along with Leadbelly.
