As you know, an impact gun would be so helpful and a major time saver. Ask me how I know, lol. Installed 2 garage doors about 1990, had no money, cordless drills were just showing up, but no impacts. Tools are wonderful

Thank you, it helped me a lot! It is so strange that you can hardly find a 3 amp 2 wire manual. I used this to connect my Avatto 3 amp wireless/zigbee Thermostat.

It's almost impossible to get the wheels on the track. Delta needs a new design because it's almost impossible to get it on the track without dropping the glass. I have installed hundreds of these types of things this is the only one that was insanely difficult.

Thank you for the response. Maybe I didn’t ask the question correctly I’m wondering if you measured from the floor to that horizontal track that which the door rides on how high off the ground is that track that runs horizontal with the roof? Does that make sense? Is it 7 feet off the ground or is it a little bit higher, thank you so much sorry to be such a pain in the ass
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY Ай бұрын
Oh, got you! Unfortunately I don't live near that house anymore, so I don't have easy access. Otherwise I would measure for you. From memory I would estimate 6-7 feet.

Thanks for a great video, any idea how high off the ground the bottom of the track is? I have an in swing door and I’m afraid it may hit the track that the door runs on when I open it

If I remember correctly, the bottom of this track went roughly to the floor with a small gap (maybe 1cm). Good luck!

Can one person install it?
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 2 ай бұрын
One person can do it, but lifting the glass doors into place requires long arms and a strong back. Would recommend two people for that step. Everything else is easy to do one person.

Can the sliding door be put on the outside of rail. The shower head is on the right side of shower but so is the toilet. No room to enter on that side.
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 2 ай бұрын
The doors slide both directions, so there is no side that is the opening, both can be. The layout of this specific bathroom shown are not ideal due to the constraints of the subfloor and the piping.

great vid. Question. I have 4 Halo lights right now and purchased a 6 box set to add more. can I add all 6 for a total of 10 or is there a limit per light switch? Thanks
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 2 ай бұрын
Disclaimer- I am not a qualified electrician, but I don't think there is a limit to the number of lights. The limitations will come from the load put on the circuit (total from the 10 lights), length of the cable run, and the gauge of the wire. If you are putting in LED lights, I think you can safely assume 10 lights will be fine on 12 or 14 gauge wire, but you should consult the NEC or qualified electrician.

I like my van. My philosophy was to leave everything open and have no fixtures inside besides the bed. I don't have a sink, no toilet, nothing. I have a bed. And I carry a big table, cooler, water jugs, camping gear, toys. I take all those out when I camp and live outside the van -- course I live in a desert. I even bring a tent with me for nice weather - I can sleep in the tent on the ground You could also pull a small trailer for space - though that is harder to drive.

I tend to agree with you good sir. Simple is good in my opinion and have found cooking and living much more enjoyable outside the van.

Thanks for the video just finished one of my doors. Two questions, the carriage bolt at 12:41, you mentioned it gets adjusted later when the spring is attached? What adjustment is required? I didn't adjust mine as there wasnt a slot to adjust the bolt. Second, does it matter which way the tension spring opening goes @16:37, opening towards down or top? Thank-you again
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 3 ай бұрын
The carriage bolt was installed just barely finger tight at 12:41. After the springs were installed I tightened the nut per the instructions. I think that was meant to allow the brackets to adjust a little as the springs were installed? I doubt it would really matter if you tightened the carriage bolt before installing the springs. As far as opening of the tension spring at 16:37, I don't recall it really mattering which way the hook at the end goes, up or down. These spring tensioners are kind of cheap (the torsion spring more commonly found with electric openers are much nice), but so far they have held up for a couple years with tenants using them to lift the door by hand.

So I wouldn’t be able to use this if I have an air conditioner?
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 3 ай бұрын
Typically 2-wire thermostats are heat only. If you have air conditioning and heat, I would recommend a smart thermostat, as they will eventually save you money on your energy bill. However, in order to install and make use of a smart thermostat you will need to run a new thermostat wire (typically at least 4-wire with a 'C-wire') in place of the 2-wires, which can be relatively easy or difficult depending on your house and how far the wire run is and what it goes through. This video does not explain this process.

May I please ask where can I buy the plastic edging. What is called formally? Thanks
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 3 ай бұрын
I think you are referring to the shower sealing? All of the plastic edging on the glass was included with the kit. I think you search "shower sealing" or "plastic edging shower" you should be able to find some different kinds for different measurements.

I'm about to tackle this but concerned about the water splashing through the bottom dam. the instructions on mine specify how high to drill the rail and provide a template. Did you follow the recommended height? Wondering if I should deviate.
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 4 ай бұрын
There will be a very small amount of water that escapes from the bottom of the door for a 'normal' adult shower, kind of a micro spray with a few droplets. I didn't find it to be too much, and I think you'd have to shell out a lot more cash to do much better. I did follow the recommended heights.

Hi just found your great video. Just installed the tub shower doors. Found out about the plastic parts you installed. Directions say nothing about it. Now is it better to remove doors to put plastic in or can I squeeze it in while doors installed???
@findoutDIY

Thanks! If you are talking about the plastic parts in the top of the door, you will probably have to take the doors down again I think. I wouldn't want to risk the doors falling out of the track on top and come crashing down.

That's bull who wants a product that takes that long to cure. same things with their cabinet and furniture paint. It was weeks before it cured. This last I painted cabinets I just used their highest quality latex and it turned out awesome. It also dried quick. Latex paint dries outside to inside so its dry to the touch quicker. Opposite with oil based paints.

I guess not as these are approved and sold at major big box stores. I tried to look up the code, but couldn't find direct reference in 10 minutes. I assume they think there will be access in the roof/attic space.
