Roflmao the insulated version has same problem. The 28” angle for the reinforcement is super garbage. Directions plainly wrong. They go through all the trouble laying out holes for you, they decided the reinforcement bracket was too confusing for the guys at the plant.

My mom and ole man used to love going to the stock car races. I can't even remember how many vans he pimped out for sleeping at the tracks. He had the turtle tops and would build a beautiful bed by hand and mom made sure they had a porta pot. Other than that they were pretty simple just like you suggested. Great video and going to do a winter build myself this year. Good luck and God Bless your family.

FYI everyone in the comments about having an "impact wrench", that's way more torque than you need. You can chuck in a socket driver into a drill and that's plenty of power. (my drill was too weak. Just to give you a heads up now that I've done it, Clopay makes a pretty good door, but they make it a lot harder with such poor directions. They compile 1 instruction book for 10 models, so you spend most of the time trying to decipher if the directions are for your model. Then when they don't drill the holes for the handles, that drives me up a wall. Or the fact I had to go out and buy the angle iron cutter to take 3 inches off the vertical rails for the low overhead installation. That's asinine. You cut the rails, you drill the holes, there's no excuse for their laziness. Like with the manual it wouldn't take 2 hours for them to go through and create a file for the correct model door, and decent illustrations.

You should explain that the black tab the wires go through has a lid on it that must be popped up - then the wires can be pushed in and gripped. I had to go find another video to understand this. Didn't want to break the black tabs.

If you put LED into your prius, PLEASE PLEASE, make sure you lenses are clear. If they're hazy it really creates a lot of glare for oncoming traffic.... and reduces your light throw distance.

Wow! This video was exactly what I needed. I will add that I had to loosen some bolts lower on the track to get the top to be moveable. After that, I was able to use the garage door opener to insert the door into the slot without having to pull the release cord. I'm still not sure how it came out in the 1st place. Hopefully it stays.

Best advice in general is to always silicone caulk any changes in plane such as corners and seams and high stress points such as this, and grout the rest. Grout is always water permeable over time unless you plan on redoing showers every 5-10 years.

How do you pressure test a sewer, drain system. You would have disconnect every sink and cap it, go on your roof and cap every vent, and the 5 psi might ve enough to push just enough water out of the house trap so it wont be sealed. I'm a carpenter, so im seriously asking. not trying to be a d***

I had to do a pressure test for this bathroom for the city inspector. In the 3" line that tied into the main 4" cast iron sewer line, I installed a 3" clean out. Through that clean out, I use an inflatable test plug, also called ball or bag (inflated with a bike pump) to block the flow. Then, at each drain on the new line (sink, wash. machine, shower, toilet) I had to plug. The toilet flange comes pre-plugged with a knock out. Sink, shower, and wash machine I used mechanical test plugs. With these plugged, put hose in the vent in out of the roof to fill to roof line. Inspector showed up and sees there are no leaks in drains/vents and you get a pass.

Appreciated. Water will sheet off the glass as it gets wet. is it advisable to drill a small hole on the inside edge of the lower rail in order for water to drain back into the shower pan rather than having it collect in the lower channel?

Did you place the bottom edge of your GoBoard on top of the pans thin edge, or did you bring it down into that lip? Thanks.

@@scottswannie2500 I fur stripped my studs out and came down to the pan inside the lip. I then shleuter taped the bottom and siliconed it and put mortar there to seal it in.
@findoutDIY
@findoutDIY 4 ай бұрын
@@scottswannie2500 I had the cement board come down over the lip, but allowed roughly a 1/8” to 1/4” gap from the top of the pan to where the cement board hung, to ensure space for a silicon caulk to seal the gap between tile and pan later. Also, there were a few places, one wall more than others, where I used drywall shims (stud shims?), basically long strips, to even our the studs or bring them out 1/16 to 1/8 inch. This ensured the cement board was not bowed out at the bottom from the lip, or at least not bowed out enough that it would affect the tiling process later. I used cement board instead of a lightweight alternative like GoBoard due to availability/cost, but have used Schlüter Kerdi Board before, which is an amazing alternative if you can justify the cost.
@scottswannie2500
@scottswannie2500 4 ай бұрын
@@findoutDIY Thanks for the info. I’m still a bit confused as I’ve never tiled before. If you shimmed out the studs a bit, didn’t the wall board stick out from the original drywall near the top of the shower walls? I’m putting goboard in only 3/4 of the way up to the ceiling. So to clarify, you put your board just over the top edge/lip of the pan which would leave a good 1/4 gap in between the bottom of the board to the edge of the pan and that’s where the tile thin set and tape will be filled in to make it flush for tiling and to hide the screws that show around the pan?

OMG I cant thank you enough for posting THIS video, of your experience with this‼Ive been looking for videos about this. Yours was the 1st one I came across, which is exactly what I was looking for . . . 2+ years ago I had the wood paneling in my shower (yes I said wood paneling, in my shower) removed. It was only in the top half all the way around, luckily not the whole top to bottom. Its an old house & it was starting to show wear & tear, & the wood paneling was starting to separate away from the wall behind it. Definitely I was concerned about moisture getting behind it into the wall & maybe creating a possible mold issue. & The shower overall was in dire need of being upgraded anyway, not just waiting for an issue to happen to it. So I went ahead with a family recommended guy who claimed he & his 2 workers knew what they were doing. LUCKILY no mold was found, but during the upgrade they recommended having a shower pan & tile put in place of the wood paneling & ceramic bathtub that was there. & There was no way to put the ceramic bathtub back in place at this point. & Having zero experience in any previous home with either tile or shower pans, I reluctantly agreed. While it does look "nice", already I am getting concerned about the very same issues in your video . . . where the tile meets the shower pan. I have noticed today that it appears the shower pan may have settled a bit already & might be pulling away from the grout at the bottom of the tile. I am hoping to get the gap(s) around the bottom filled in the way that you did in your video, before I have any further issues. My shower pan unfortunately has the wood subfloor beneath it. I am not sure if there is any barrier between them & there is no way of knowing now. Being that the installers were family recommended & have worked on their houses, I trusted them, & maybe I shouldnt have. I should have called some professionals, as there are things about the work over all that I dont like. Anyway . . . Im hoping to "repair" the grout gaps asap like you did before any issues arise!! Your shower looks a lot nicer than mine turned out. You really did a great job. Nice work! THANXX again for sharing your video!! Hoping mine turns out ok. Sorry my comment was so long, lol

The unit comes with a digital display that is mounted inside and *can* be easy or difficult to wire, depending on the wall type and configuration that you're mounting to. This is not shown, but if you can do everything else in the video, this is a relatively easy step
