Great instructions! Got these lights for my basement office. Just wanted a quick and simple video to kind of confirm the process I already knew and this was it. Thank you very much!

great vid. Question. I have 4 Halo lights right now and purchased a 6 box set to add more. can I add all 6 for a total of 10 or is there a limit per light switch? Thanks

Disclaimer- I am not a qualified electrician, but I don't think there is a limit to the number of lights. The limitations will come from the load put on the circuit (total from the 10 lights), length of the cable run, and the gauge of the wire. If you are putting in LED lights, I think you can safely assume 10 lights will be fine on 12 or 14 gauge wire, but you should consult the NEC or qualified electrician.

Is not against NEC those junctions boxes hidden inaccessible behind drywall?
@findoutDIY2 ай бұрын
I guess not as these are approved and sold at major big box stores. I tried to look up the code, but couldn't find direct reference in 10 minutes. I assume they think there will be access in the roof/attic space.

are these just open when finished? and you put a light bulb in? or can I cover it? It looks like you've put some pot lights?

To finish, us a rotorzip tool to cut the drywall around the outside of the can (careful on your first try, it takes a bit of practice!). The drywall will slip around the outside of it, allowing you to secure the drywall to the studs. After that, Home Depot and Lowes sell finishing kits of lights that have spring fasteners that fit inside the cans and the trim covers the drywall cut around the can housing. There are some options for LED finish trim lights in the description.

In all fairness, what he showed us is appropriate for the video title. Plenty of "how to" videos on panel wiring. Thank for posting this video.

@@soundmapper plenty of how to’s on panel wiring yes, but not how to install a 30 amp RV cable to a panel as your main source power

Once you squeeze those tabs to lock it on the track can it be moved again? I need to slide it over a couple inches.
@findoutDIY Жыл бұрын
I don't think it should be too hard to move it along the tracks with the tabs squeezed-in; as I recall they don't really hold it that tightly, so it might just move with a bit of force. If not, I would try a needlenose pliers or flathead screwdriver to pry them up a bit and then it should slide.

You should explain that the black tab the wires go through has a lid on it that must be popped up - then the wires can be pushed in and gripped. I had to go find another video to understand this. Didn't want to break the black tabs.
