This video really has a feel to it that emphasizes the stress and fatigue that field ops have when you're cold, wet, hungry and havent slept in 96 hours.

After 2 horrific world wars and now Ukraine you really have be an absolute mug to want to be in the infantry 🤣 ... the PBI as the old timers used to call it 🤣

isn't this all a bit silly? - ie using blokes instead of just plastering the enemy with mortars, artillery, apache and nowadays drones. I guess life was cheap back then, it's never going to be like this again.

None of this would’ve mattered I’m the Cold War…the Soviet Army was a fearsome beast….huge and fast moving…yet these tactics worked in the Falklands in 1982.

I was in the British Army and I remember watching this film in the early 1980s in West Germany. It was pointed out that we were the only only army wearing camouflage pattern, even the Yanks wore dark green, as did every other NATO country. But we still wore puttees which went back to the 19th century and our tin hats were first issued 1944. My SLR had a plastic butt and a wooden stock.

Talking of war stories lol. I ran a grenade range once using the old 36, nasty but effective. We had a blind and I still remember the lonely feeling walking up and down the gravel looking for it while the lads looked over the top of the pit in case "Sir" stood on it!

If it wasn't for the early mornings, being out in all weathers, and the risk of sudden, violent death, war looks like it would be quite fun.
