Looking good! I can't wait to play it again on PC. I'm impressed with the medium settings too. Have you noticed any stuttering? I know many complain about stuttering in Remake that's still not fixed, but I haven't noticed any in my playthrough of it. I have pretty much the same PC specs as you, a bit older CPU. CPU Intel 16 Core i7-13700K GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Motherboard GIGABYTE Z790 AERO G RAM G.Skill Trident DDR5 64GB I should be able to play on Ultra too 😁

Oh i think you'll be more than fine with those specs! I had the odd stutter but it was maybe when the odd cutscene started but nothing that effected gameplay. This was on High + 120fps! I have yet to play while not recording, which recording can also effect gameplay depending on your system but i was a solid 110-120 through my first few chapters so far.

This game is a huge step up from base release back in Feb 2024. Probably the BEST way to play this game. I wish i could have gotten more in-depth with this sort of video but with the timeframe for embargo + working full time, it was difficult to add more. So i show off the best parts of my current playthrough on PC!

Some tidbits: * Leon comes from his last name "Squall Leonhart" * The bit with Quistis in the beginning is Quistis making fun of how predictable Squall is by guessing what he's going to say. * Enemies level with you, so I wouldn't recommend grinding levels. The most effective "grindy" thing would be drawing high quantities of spells to junction-boost your stats with, but that can also take some of the fun out of the game (since endlessly drawing isn't fun, and you can break the game a little too easily by doing that). * I'd say this is the first Nomura game, and where the Kingdom Hearts-esque weirdness of FF starts to form. The story goes that the main Final Fantasy creator, Sakaguchi, let his two second-in-commands to take full control of FF8 (Nomura and Kitase), but Nomura went so wild and weird with it that Sakaguchi got freaked out and decided they needed to reign everything back in and go back to full traditional with FF9.

Wow, I'm surprised you're doing this before 9, not that I'm complaining. 9 is more "normal", crowd-pleasing, perhaps tight, and universally likeable (things that I would not be surprised if something like Pixar would do), while 8 is more weird, and swing-for-the-fences (and sometimes miss in a puzzling way) creatively ambitious, in my opinion, and I personally prefer its sometimes more artful choices and subtleties. One thing I'd strongly recommend (that most people miss and end up having complaints with the storytelling due to this): There are some fairly significant lore hints and details hidden in the menus that is worth periodically checking out as you discover more places/people/terms. I think it's under Tutorial -> Information or something. More stuff gets added over time. If you don't read them, some plot points can feel like they're coming out of nowhere, which is a somewhat common criticism.
@GlobeTrotter267
@GlobeTrotter267 7 күн бұрын
GFs will have abilities that amplify specific stats by X% as well as junctioning magic slots. You'll only ever have 3 characters at a time so you can cluster your GFs into 3 groups that cover all the core junction slots and stat boosts. In the menu, you can swap junctioned magic and GFs all together between characters. As a character uses those GFs their affinity with them will increase making the summon time shorter and I think, more powerful? Don't quote me on the power boost though. Also you can find GFs from boss when you draw from magic from them. Specific boss fights have GFs associated with them you won't want to miss it; since it will limit your junctioning options over the game if you do.

Junctioning is way simpler than it seems at first. Take your time and don't push your own level as much as other Final Fantasy titles would "suggest" that you do. Enemies scale to you. So you have to use Junctions to become stronger, not the levels.

The Yu Yevon battle is a great final test of strategy at the end. If you try to just brute force it, you won't make much progress because of it's auto healing. The zombie strategy you used is by far the best one available, but indeed casting reflect is the common one most find on their first playthrough. There's a third great strategy that most first time playthroughs don't find is to use Kimarhi's overdrive to cast doom (or use a candlestick of life item on it), since the doom counter is only three turns for Yu Yevon. So once doom is inflicted, you just continue to pass your turn until Yu Yevon has three of it's own turns and then it immediately dies (and you can die because all your characters have infinite auto life).

Congratulations, this is one of my favorites in the series. So glad you enjoyed the game. Since you are a fan of FF7 and FFX, there are several connections between the two worlds fans have noticed over the years. This is especially true after FF7 Rebirth being the most recent example. The song solo Aerith has in the Gold Saucer shows the Lifestream creating images of Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge as Aerith remembers. This is the exactly how the Farplane works except she's dancing. However, Aerith's dance is very similar to Yuna's sending dance which is also connections to sending souls. In FFX-2 There is a character named Shinra who recognizes the Farplane has enormous energy potential and could be used to power the cities of Spira's future. This was directly include by the FFX-2 creators to connect the worlds in a spiritual sense. There is also an easter egg of the FFX-2 character of Shinra as an adult in FF7 remake or rebirth in an old photograph of Shinra scientists. There are other connections but those were the big ones I remembered. It's not really confirmed by the creators but some fans speculate it's the same world. Also if you do watch the Eternal Calm and FFX-2 ending, you should watch all the endings for FFx-2. I think each one works as a good conclusion.

I usually post this at the start of someone's playthrough, but I apparently didn't on yours. Here's the lyrics to Jecht's theme song, Otherworld: Go now, if you want it An otherworld awaits you Don't you give up on it You bite the hand that feeds you All alone, cold fields you wander Memories of it, cloud your sight Fills your dreams, disturbs your slumber Lost your way, a fallen knight Hold now, aim is steady An otherworld awaits you One thousand years, you ready? The otherworld, it takes you Go into the sand, and the dust, and the sky Go now, there's no better plan than to do or to die Free me, pray to the fayth, in the face of the light Feed me, fill me with sin, and get ready to fight You know you will, you know you will You know, you know, you know You know that you will You know, you know, you know You know that you will You know you will Fight, fight, fight Fight, fight, fight Fight, fight, fight Fight, fight, fight Hope dies and you wander The otherworld, it makes you Dreams, they rip asunder The otherworld, it hates you Free now, ride up on it Up to the heights, it takes you Go now, if you want it An otherworld awaits you

The fight with Jecht is very difficult! This ending breaks me everytime, no matter how many times I've seen it 😭😭 I know you said you will maybe play FF9 next but will you be playing FF X-2 in the future? FF X-2 is a bit cheesy but it also gives a nice ending to the full FFX story. Personally I've had a break from FF games for a while now. I've been playing Stellar Blade and Black Myth Wukong, both was good action combat games with beautiful worlds and a decent story. With BMW it's easier to follow the story if you know the myth about Wukong and the journey to the west story. In both games I was missing the character development and interaction I'm used to from FF games though. Then I played Ghost of Tsushima, I've had this on my list of games to play for a long time and I finally did. This was an amazing game! wWhat a beautiful world and great story. During Christmas I've been re-playing an old favorite, Mass Effect Legendary Edition again. I'm still playing Mass Effect now since it's 3 games, but I will be wrapping it up in time for FF7 Rebirth release on PC 😄 If you have played Ghost of Tsushima and Mass Effect 1-3 (or Legendary Edition) you know what I mean, if not I can highly recommend them ☺

Mass Effect is another on the list... maybe when i finish up my FF run i'll start the Mass Effect games.

I'll just copy this part of a comment I left elsewhere: "This story, after 24 years, still manages to convey all of what this pilgrimage was about. A pilgrimage full of joy, just as Yuna wanted it, full of love, friendship and trust. A pilgrimage full of growth, from Tidus evolving into the responsible hero he was supposed to become, to Wakka overcoming his prejudices, from Kimahri becoming a strong and wise Ronso to Yuna's resolve to save Spira even after abandoning the precepts, paralleling the growth Braska, Auron and Jecht experienced ten years before. But most of all, a pilgrimage full of loss. Wakka having to say goodbye to his new brother only a year after Chappu, Rikku having her Home taken away from her, Kimahri seeing all the Ronso erased by Seymour. And of course, Yuna and Tidus separating in this finale, which still makes me cry every single time, even after the dozens of times I played the game through the years. We spent the whole game worrying about Yuna and the final summoning, and when we find a solution to that, it's Tidus that has to go." Really enjoyed this playthrough, Kiza! Looking forward to seeing your reaction to the Eternal Calm short film and, why not, X-2.

I’m helping my friend play through it now and enjoying h the whole process. It’s a game series that if you don’t get it right requires multiple play throughs. Which when they came out was fine because you had YEARS between games. You could dial things in the way you wanted. Now it’s not done with multiple play through cuz there’s just so. Much. Content.

Nice job, you did it, you took down Sin (well first part of it) 😄 Older FF games do require a bit of grinding, or maybe even a lot of grinding 😂 You now understand why some older FF fans think FF15 and FF16 is too easy and therefor not as good (of course there's other things they don't like too, like action combat, story or lack of story, some of the silliness most older FF games have and so on). Personally I enjoy both new and old FF games, but too much grinding can get boring in the long run. I don't mind it at all in these older FF games but I wouldn't want all new FF games to be like this. A bit more exploration in the new FF games I wouldn't mind. This is just my opinion, others might feel different about it.

Long note! Hope they've been helpful. In this area coming up I would HIGHLY recommend spending an hour just grinding and leveling up. You have 2 minor bosses and one major boss coming up. A few notes as I watch: Auron's arm is in the sling like that as a gesture of what was lost. Ronin/Samurai used to do it. It's a symbol of shame. Those who shamed themselves would hide on arm to show dishonor or having lost their master/leader. I don't know the nuances but his arm is fine. It's a gesture to his journey with Braska. You did well on the Yunalesca fight. People struggle with dealing with the zombie effects because healing just breaks. Getting into armor crafting for specific bosses help, but you also need to know what's coming. If you ever do another play through you'll do that. The name of items come from the effects on them so keeping every different named item is kinda pointless. In the endgame you end up selling everything except 4 slot weapons and customizing everything but the armor/weapon names don't matter. Celestial weapons also have a "hidden" stat of ignoring some defense stat, can't remember off hand which one. But that's part of what makes them stupid good. Just make sure you unlocked both the sigil AND the crest for each weapon or they don't do much to help you. Looks like you did though cuz you're breaking the 9999 damage limit. Yuna didn't say anything to Cid, he's crying because she's his niece, his sisters daughter. His sister is gone and all that's left of her is Yuna who he expected to die as a summoner and now she's not. His sister now lives on in Yuna after he thought he would lose her. The Point of No Return is when you walk towards a giant pillar that falls from the sky. There's a save sphere just before that so just make sure to drop a save that you recognize there. Things like Underdogs Secret that say "There seems to be some use for this" are used for Rikku's overdrive (may want to look up a mix list, that's not really cheating cuz there's just sooooo many) and weapon/armor customization. Clarification point: Remember the fayth in gagazet? Yu Yevon is the one using them to perform the summoning. Then he possesses the final aeon and takes time to build an armor around himself that takes the form of Sin. That takes time and the time that takes is known as the calm. Once he has the armor, Yu Yevon guides sin to attack population centers to keep the dream Zanarkand he's constantly summoning safe. Sin is NOT the summoning. Dream Zanarkand is. As for how much is left, the next episode is definitely the end so long as you don't throw in the towel for a fairly difficult boss. Do another round of grinding and you should be all set my man! You're almost there, good luck!
@KizaCreates

thank you for this! ooh, i didnt know that was a thing with Auron. I assumed Yunalesca gave him a permanent injury. Yea, Yunalesca was a very fun fight! keeping one person zombied is 100% the strat due to mega-death! That was the mistake i made with the weapons at first, i assumed it "redeemed" both sigils at once... it didnt 😭 Awww she didnt? i thought i seen her mouth move - thats still super sad. Underdogs Secret i found on a guide, decent usage but i feel its another "well im at end game, will i use it?" thing. if i decide to do side content i might use it. On your clarification - im 100% clued up now, the "sin is not the summoning" is the part i was confused about but now it all makes sense.

1:16:00 Auron attacked at the end of the fight because he was berserked. Berserk increases a character's strength, but you lose control over them in the process. Kind of like Confuse, except that they won't attack allies with berserk. Also, there is a fight once you continue on (after a few scenes) so this is the point where you might want to go back out and get your overdrives up, like I mentioned in my comment from the last episode.
