I had just started doing my 65 Fastback, about this time, and had done most of the same repairs !!! Including fabbing up that upper driver's Firewall flange as well. I wound up doing the full upper and lower cowl panels though.. I too had to fab up a lower footwell front flange from scratch!!! I'm not even finished my Fastback, and now I'm doing full shock towers, a battery side full apron and a radiator support for good measure, on a buddies 65 coupe !!! It was awesome 😎 how you just "Loved up" on each section, intuit was whole again. I'll be searching for more of your vids I missed back then as well . Thanks for sharing brother....

Hey Okie, greetings from Tulsa. I'm about to rebuild my 66 c4 and wondered if i should just order thrust washers bearings and servo o rings? Ive got a tan alto master kit w/ bushings and trans-go valve body kit, also, what did you use to clean all the parts in?
@dubsgarage2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! If you’re not in a hurry I would tear it down and see what you actually need. This will save you time and shipping cost in the long run. I used brake cleaner and petroleum naphtha to clean the parts.

Lawzee Dub, nice how-to video. I have a 1966 mustang 200 6 and the c4 wont shift into 3rd. I'm in tulsa, do you rebuild c4's? I'll remove and install and deliver and pickup the trans. The trans did have a 2nd to 3rd flair, so i adjusted the bands and modulator and now it wont go into 3rd.

Is the 700r4 better than the turbo 350 on a sbc 1962 sbc 327?
@dubsgarage5 ай бұрын
Julio, that’s a question that 5 people would give you a 100 answers 😂. The 700r4 will fit. I guess it all depends on how you will drive it and if you want overdrive or not. If you’re driving a lot of highway miles the r4 would be better be driving around town a 350 or 400 might be better.

So how dangerous is that undercoating on 60s cars? I have heard some people say it has asbestos in it. I have a 66 Thunderbird I am about start working on and I wanted to start by removing the undercoating.
@dubsgarage5 ай бұрын
I have not noticed any signs of asbestos on my vehicles however all of the older cars do have asbestos and lead in them and you should use the appropriate PPE when working on them.

Question about the 2 horizontal bolt holes on your replacement piece. Their placement seems critical. Did you weld in the replacement piece without referencing the final locations of those 2 holes. The holes on my 65 mustang are disfigured to the point where I can't precisely locate their center. Do you know of a document showing dimensions of where it should be? Thanks
@dubsgarage7 ай бұрын
@tedwards9461 I took several measurements to locate the holes before cutting out the old piece out. The new piece came with the holes and threads so just had to line it up and weld it up. Thanks for watching.

Got a mustang once and the previous owner just laid floor pans over the rusted out floor and welded it in. I ended up using a Dynacorn full floor so I didn’t have to fix his laziness and I got all new firewall back w/o the headache of individual patches and rails. Food for thought, the full floors are a little costly (shop around, price can be as much as $1000 different). Keep up the good work, checking out your other videos

The '65 Mustang I bought recently has an OG Pertronix on it that is probably 20+ years old. I've noticed some 'browning' of the label which some folks say is heat due to leaving the ignition on. A spare and coil isn't a bad idea for longer trips.

Hey there, I know I'm late to the party here, I loved how you showed the nitty gritty here, on how you found the panels just didn't fall together 😕. Then experimented with how to get the fit you wanted, worts and all. Some people complain about content like this, has to be edited, to the point where its just not useful to those of us, who are the same journey, doing the same project tasks. It was great 👍.

Have any of you compared the patch rail to the full frame rail? I measured the left and right frame rail patches I received from CJ Pony and the rear spring shackle upper mount hole is 1/4" off from factory. It's closer to the bumper which will increase the distance from front to rear leaf spring mount. Curious if this will cause any issues/concerns with rear suspension.

No haven’t used one of the patches. I do know a lot of the reproduction parts are not exactly the same and require some massaging to get them to fit properly.
