It's very weird to complain about deltarune not being serious enough when it was born from the primordial stew of Homestuck, Earthbound, and Tumblr. The very core of its identity is silliness. Its a meta retro-throwback video game with a creepypasta route built into it. Goofiness is what you signed up for when you played this game; goofiness is inherently the point of the game imo. Its like saying Disco Elysium is too political; what did you even expect? Undertale itself has all its menacing bad guys turn into goofy friends by the end, it's essentially a stylistic flourish of Toby Fox at this point.

feels like toby wants us to believe that it is gaster, through using similar style in text (written in all caps, and also text breaks) but whoever is writing it (egg man maybe) is trying to copy gaster's way of speaking but is failing, making slip ups and stuff. the problem is there's just not really much else we know about this egg giver character to make a solid enough theory on. my best guess is that the egg dude wants to copy gaster or something, i mean there's already stuff about the egg guy that's similar to gaster but just has something that differentiates it (eg: the tree room, its incredibly similar to the mysteryman room from undertale, but just ever so different. or another example, man.ogg is similar to gaster's theme, but it is actually a completely different song, it doesn't use gaster's motif and is more than just 4 looping notes)

I think the want for Gaster to just be a gag character kinda stems from the really weird, yet extremely persistent idea among a certain group of UT/DR fans (see: the UT/DR subreddit) that Toby Fox is just kinda a troll. While yea Toby is a chronic shitposter and can be an extremely funny writer (Chapter 2 is the hardest I've laughed at a game like ever), to boil everything he's written down to the idea that it's all for shits and giggles is a Massive disservice to Toby as a writer, he clearly has a lot of love and respect towards his own characters, and goes almost entirely against the entire message of both Undertale and Deltarune. Like, yea man i super believe the games based around the idea of not treating characters like play things for our amusement are going to treat a character as a play thing for our amusement.

Couldn't agree more about Chapter 2 being too silly. The "dark fantasy with a hint of light hearted fun" vibe in Chapter 1 was great. Chapter 2 being "waaacky internet humor with explosion gifs lololol" was pretty disappointing. I love Spamton just as much as the next guy, but I fear we'll never recover from the effect he's had on this fandom. "Silly crazy little skrunkly man" shit is the worst.

I don't believe that Chara was 100% evil or in any way abusive to Asriel, but I feel the need to point out that him saying he wants to be friends with them for 999 more years doesn't really debunk that for those who do believe. It's not uncommon for victims to become emotionally attached to their abusers or not even realize they're being abused because they can't believe someone they care about are doing these things to them. Not to mention the letter clearly feels like it was wrote prior to their deaths, and it was only in hindsight that Asriel realized Chara wasn't that great a person. Again, I don't believe that Chara was ever abusive to Asriel. I mean they were both children so they may have bullied him a bit, but ultimately it was obvious Chara cared for Asriel. Also using the letter as evidence feels redundant when we know even as a soulless flower Asriel considered Chara to be his best friend lol. (It can also be stated that Chara was the only character capable of making Flowey feel as during the genocide route he gets scared of the player who at this point he is certain is Chara.)

Basically... theories are fun!! We should try to be a little nicer about them, even if they're far-fetched. My favorite crack theory is Knightpyrus because I think it'd be cool thematically, and I really miss Papyrus. I am under no impression that it's true, but I just think the idea is cool.

Bold prediction, but I think Lanino and Elnina, the weather duo, will be Chapter 3's main villains. Several reasons: For one, they have been teased 2 times already, once in the Sweepstakes, and once again in the Valentine's newsletter. They are the only named Chapter 3 characters that have been teased. One of the central themes surrounding them is their love for one another. "The weather always sticks together", and everything written in their valentine's card. This has significance because Kris' parents are divorced, and their broken relationship has been highlighted in both prior chapters. With chapter 3 taking place inside Kris' home, it is clear that these characters must be very important to the overall narrative. Furthermore, if the chess theme continues, then after 1 King and 1 Queen follows 2 Rooks on the chessboard. The term "rook" itself is a synonym of "swindler" and "cheat". Another central theme of Chapter 3, besides Love and TV, is crime and law enforcement. What if Lanino and Elnina are not just the weather hosts, but in fact leaders of a crime syndicate? The term "rook" could even have a double meaning here, referring not just to crime, but also the act of "cheating on" someone -- breaking the relationship. Besides, having two instead of just one antagonist would be a great opportunity to mix things up.

I find it unlikely that the Chapter 4 screenshot is in the Light World. The presents and the candy cane are way too large. Like look at the open present, it's literally the size of Noelle's entire body. But if it's the Dark World, how is there a flashlight? Aren't objects supposed to turn into Darkners? And why isn't Noelle wearing her white robes, but instead something that looks like a nun's habit? Also, Noelle reappearing at all has major implications given that, well, Snowgrave exists and all.

13:52 Okay, i have to disagree with this,in chapter 1 you don't actually need to fight King since Lancer (or Ralsei depending on the route) saves you, and in chapter 2 you HAVE to fight Giga Queen, in the end, we do not just convice Queen to stop through acting, to make Queen stop, Ralsei has to tell her about The Roaring to change her mind, and Queen becomes friendly because she just wanted to create a paradise for lightners. Although i DO agree that the next main villain should not become an ally as easily as Queen

Completely disagree about chapter 1 and 2. It feels like a natural transition, and chapter 1 felt like it was missing that silliness that makes Toby Fox games so good. I didn't really like Deltarune until chapter 2 dropped. Chapter 2's silliness really contrasts with its serious moments, and it's what makes Toby Fox games so good imo.

Ideas regarding the Chapter 4 screenshot: 1. Noelle turned off the lights, and wanted to use the flashlight to tell a scary story. She does like scary things, after all. But being a deer, when she did turn on a light pointed directly at her face, she couldn't help but stare at it directly. 2. There's a power outage at Noelle's house for whatever reason. She went to find a flashlight, fiddled with it to get it to turn on, but thought it was pointed downwards. It was actually pointed right at her face, so when she turned it on, she accidentally blinded herself.
