Props to you for doing an inlay instead of stacking plates.

Hey Andrew you made this blade for me. Had my daughters named engraved on the side. Hope your still at it. Just got my anvil and forge.

Nice work! Kudos on the editing and the written explanations. I know what you are doing but plenty of others might not! Digging the new method for cutting the holes. The inlay part was pure gold, keep it up!

Hello, i am a bit late to the party on this one. I enjoyed the video of you working on your knife. Also i like the knife itself. Thanks for taking the time to film and show it.

If you want a polished look, put liquid Brasso on a long piece of cotton t shirt scrap and buff the antler. It works on wood too.

Dude, you really do great work! I really like the inlay work. I'm a beginner making knives and doing formal blacksmithing, but I've been a welder/ fabricator for longer than I can remember. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my life making pretty and functional stuff not just strong good looking S#$t You're giving me great ideas!

You should try laminating stainless or high nickel around a carbon steel to get that really crazy contrast. This turned out awesome, the high polish almost drives you nuts trying to get a good picture, I know the feeling.

Ha ha maby in the future. The problem is the blueprints are basically wrecked and its one of a kind. I know some people may want to see it closer but if anyone were to want to build one I couldn't help.

So wetting the hammer before striking the hot metal is not right? I don't doubt you but I've seen many people do this as well.
@andrewhanowski96016 жыл бұрын
Both will work. Vinager will take a while, water is faster. I reccomend a butcher block brush (still need to get one) so you can clean it everytime you pull it from the forge. The best way is actually using a sandblaster.

I see now. Thanks for the tips!

Hello thanks for video, how to unite the plates of ex-plane exhaust and a hundreds electrik guitar string waste made from nikle and leaf spring or bearing how to joined that layer by forge to be solid pieces???
@andrewhanowski96016 жыл бұрын
That's pretty advances stuff. Search "canister damascus" and I can tell you this is no beginner stuff! I wouldn't even attempt that myself due to my equipment. If you have access to some kind of press, such as a fly press or hydraulic press then you can try, but this is some seriously advanced stuff.

How can I buy a knife???
@blackmapleblades6 жыл бұрын
please tell me you normally wear a mask while grinding. I use a shop vac to drop my sparks away into a bucket. even with that I still use a full mask. lol my ear buds have magnets on them and there is always little mountains of knife steel built up even after a small amount. And to think it could end up in your lungs sucks...
@andrewhanowski96016 жыл бұрын
Yes I know and I use it more often. Now it's rare that I don't, unless I'm making videos and just grinding something quickly and done right away like in this video.

i have question sir,how to keep the tang in the center?? when i was forging my tang i don't know how to keep them aligned to centre,it's always goes on and on to one side like those japanese kitchen knife
@andrewhanowski96016 жыл бұрын
Sometimes that happens to me as well. You just have to correct it. I'll try my best to explain what I do. If the tang is closer to the top, and further away from the bottom I'll hold the edge against the middle of the anvil and whack the tang down in the top and it will correct. After that you will need to fix the bevel as it will be pushed in from the anvil.

If you knew how to hammer the tip proper you wouldn't have to cheat.
@andrewhanowski96015 жыл бұрын
I know how to hammer, I do on my other videos. Why don't you go leave that exact comment on Murray carter's channel??? He does it similer to how I do it in this video and that's why I started doing it this way, and you know why?? Because it's FASTER. when your full time (which I was) you need to take shit like this in consideration. If you know so much about this to call people out without thinking why the hell are you even watching videos like this?
