Lmfao this guy just doesn't want people moving there, Maryland is way more expensive than Pennsylvania. Not to mention that jobs in Pennsylvania pays very well. Don't pay attention to this goof the only truth he told you was the insurance is really cheap.

PA sucks!!! You get fines for everything. And they will put you in jail for fines. Parking fines. They will come to your home like the SWAT team on none moving violations. And crime and fires are real in PA . That place is hell on earth. The girls have no teeth and the people are Air heads or on drugs.

I lived in Maryland for 25 years. PA for 40 years. Here is the bottom line. CRIME! Income tax is 5 x in MD. And you are not likely to get carjacked or shot in PA. Maryland is a Democrat shit hole. Go home. We like our safety!

LOTS of folks in southern York County are former Maryland residents and moved here because it’s overall cheaper than MD. You are the first person that I’ve ever heard claim Maryland is cheaper than Pennsylvania.

Yes, there are too many taxes, here AND other states. Nowhere is perfect. But, York PA has been my home for over 35 years. Paid well, good people, supported my business and my family goals. And you came from Baltimore? Smart. That toilet is about to flush. Keep a positive view, and quit complaining or MOVE.

I moved to PA 24 years ago from Alabama. My 2 cents worth~ 1~ Vehicle inspections I can live with. If you ever live in a state that has none, you would probably. 2~ TAX, TAX, TAX! I have lived all over the world but I have NEVER seen a state that taxes so much and gives so little. My taxes (school/property) are $800 PER MONTH $9,600 per year! 3~ If you like cold weather, cloudy, dreary days than PA is for you. 4~ Like most places today, illegals have invaded and crime is souring. 5~ They claim they need to raise tax for police and teachers. Maybe we should hire more cops and fire more teachers. The only ones using public schools anymore are mostly illegals who don't pay tax and do the crimes.

Being a York county native, I will tell you, our state used to be a nice place to live. I am originally from Spry/Dalkastown. The city is slowly moving further out. We have the highest gas tax in the US. And as far as taxes? We are amount one of the highest states. And here is something of interest too. York county has a dark history. There is a lot of superstitions, and along with that, a lot of "white" witchcraft. I know, my Grandma grew up in Yoe, and her family practiced this stuff. Look up Rehmyers hollow.

$2,000 school tax? More like $5,000. State inspections are a good idea. Gives me peace of mind that the idiots driving next to me at least have a semi-safe car. Who the heck pays $500 a month car insurance?

I was thinking that too about the car insurance, $6k a year, c'mon.

I'm living in Westminster, MD. I had considered moving to PA (Gettysburg, Hanover, York area) for retirement since housing in PA is less expensive to purchase, and PA doesn't tax retirement income. But I've done the research.. At best I'd break even, and possibly cost me more to move to PA. Bottom line I'm staying in Westminster.

Don't move to Pennsylvania cause taxes keep going up. You never own your property just rent from the State. Roads are not good and are not upgraded for the increased population. State Government is liberal and taxes are going up. No tax relief for elderly like Delaware.

Has this guy been living under a laundry basket? I don’t know of a single state in which property taxes don’t go to schools, and you pay regardless of whether you have kids in school or not. Also, Pennsylvania is not the only state that requires periodic vehicle inspections. In fact, Maryland’s requirement that a used car has to pass an inspection before you can register it in the state is something I had never encountered in any of the 23 states I have lived in. Given this, I couldn’t watch any more of this video.

It’s trade off. Higher taxes on lower property values. Gas tax is high. But if you work in Maryland gas up in Maryland. It’s basically a wash. Maryland is more straightforward. PA Nickel and dines you. However the lower housing cost can offset a lot in mortgage payments. This is not an endorsement of moving to PA. I’d prefer if you didn’t.

I'm twenty minutes from the Maryland line and twenty minutes from York . I fill up my vehicles when in Maryland which is usually every week . Yep auto insurance is much cheaper due to the fact that insurance companies know Maryland especially in the city and close to D.C. has the worst drivers . We moved from Anne Arundel County in Maryland in 2005 . The roads are generally better in Maryland than in Pennsylvania. Wait till there is a snow . The PA side will have a covering of snow or winter mix and as soon as you hit the Maryland line the roads are clear . This includes secondary roads also .

My mother and I lived in the outskirts of York, PA for several years in the 1980s, and for a year up near Wilkes-Barre, PA, near relatives. I lived near Blakeslee and then Stroudsburg for a couple of years in the early 2000s. I liked everywhere except Stroudsburg, but that's because I'm not a city person. My mother was actually from PA, across Wyoming Valley from Wilkes-Barre. And yes, there is a Wyoming Valley in PA. It's wide, very long, and lovely. The cemetery where my mother is buried is up on a ridge across the valley from Wilkes-Barre, and the view is absolutely lovely. Mom is among many relatives there, as she was born in one of the small towns just down the hill.😊

STOP CRYING ABOUT NONSENSE MR. college professor! I was living in New Jersey before I moved to PA, and my property taxes on a 2000 square foot house with a 160 foot x 100 foot lot were $13,000 a year. Now I have a 2500 square foot home with 2 acres of land, and I'm paying $550 a year for my taxes, without any NOSY ASS college professor neighbors!!! Also have natural well water, and very little vehicle traffic, so I can't complain about PA!!!

as a lifelong resident of PA - he's not wrong and he noted the positives too - which is reasonable....funny how I've heard many times from Maryland transplants the exact same comments - I like being less crowded and lower crime....when you live here long enough - finding ways to deal with the negatives becomes 2nd nature.
