Its to promote artists i know personally or have come across through being recommended or bc the artist themselves reached out personally. It's mostly hiphop/new age focused. But am constantly looking to build connections to grow it and other playlists that help promote talented artists for the love of music not for paid promo

Another great and helpful video, Tom. In my first (and only so far) admittedly, I got 99% hateful stuff, and chose not to reply. I then chose to take down the ad and wait until I could fine tune the content as well as the audience to succeed better next time. I definitely learned a lot through the process, although it did make me retreat a bit, so I need to re-motivate and gear up to have another go at it... I appreciate your inspiration, motivation, and education! 🙏

Is discover weekly really better than radio streams? I have had a song hit discover weekly this past month, but the number of radio streams is crazy higher at 17,500 compared to only 578 listens on discover weekly. Is this bad or is this okay? I'm confused since everyone on the internet seems to prioritize discover weekly as the goal

You’re basically telling artists to figure out how to best or better click-bait their target audience! This methodology only benefits exploitative marketing and promotion services that promise the same things you promise. Artists using these services will be in perpetual debt, constantly paying for so called marketing and promotion courses, and or services in hopes that they yield results, thinking that conversions and streams are the desired results when in actuality GETTING PAID is the only result that matters! And they’re not going to get paid creating a bunch of content to test on their target audience(s) for the purposes of generating streams, especially if the streams are coming from listeners they cannot directly retarget to retain for future promotions, etc! They’ll just be paying more and more money for vanity stats that mean nothing!

Man, I understand the frustration. It comes from a very real place. But I think you're confusing me with the majority of "music marketing / attention hacking / pay for playlisting and streams" crowd. I may be in a parallel lane, but it ain't that one. This video speaks to a small piece of an otherwise complex and multifaceted puzzle exploring what it takes to find happiness, success, fulfillment, and yes, revenue, as an artist, creator, and entrepreneur. For context (and bit more of my mindset), check out the video I published last week. Streams aren't the end goal, fulfillment and entrepreneurship are.

Great video Tom. out of curiosity do you think it’s better to run ads for a song to a Spotify playlist with all of your songs in it and the ad song on the top? Or do you think it’s better just to run the ad to the song itself? Obviously, with the playlist, you can get more streams from your ad if the listener continues to listen to the playlist, but I wonder if that affects the save rate for the song and therefore doesn’t trigger the algorithm the way that it would if the ad just went to the song. Hope that makes sense. Appreciate your videos!

I've found the FB ad Manager Pixel Conversion "Results" isn't the protection that it was before. It seems like bots can click the landing page "Play" button in Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria and a couple other countries. This is getting so frustrating. Also should I update ad creative within a running ad-set or create a new ad-set within an existing campaign. then shut of the old creative/s?

Yeah, the bots are definitely getting worse. Another reason the right countries are so critical. You can definitely update ad creative within an existing ad set. You'll just want to avoid doing that during the learning phase or when a campaign is brand new.

Not sure if its because of my region. Im in South East Asia / Malaysia. Thoughts on an alternative? Or would "Traffic" campaigns / Link Clicks work the same instead? As that campaign option has the "Listen Now" call to action

I'm a new to this but watching videos like yours to educate myself. Yes I agree just on streams alone you won't make that much money but if people download you full album , then I know you can make a lot of money from my calculations with distrokid which I use. The key is to use ads that draw the song your promotion but liink it up to your playlist album. What do you think about this and what do you suggest ?

Hi Tom, I love your content. Question : when I boost an existing reel through meta manager and I redirect to a hypeddit landing page with spotify cta, then meta is not able to track the clicks. It works perfectly when I don't use an existing reel but I add a new video ad in meta. Do you confirm boosting an existing reel works only for awareness / video views / profil visits but not for landing page clicks ? Thanks a lot, Anzû

tom, my instagram ads aren't working at all, i've gotten 8 clicks that each cost me over 2 dollars... don't know what the problem is. should i cancel the ad before i waste more money? (would sound reasonable) and like what's the alternative? grateful for some advice :)

Yeah, marketing is a great amplifier, but you gotta have a tone worth turning up. Another big mistake is that most musicians and diy artists push their music to other musicians instead of regular fans. It’s like asking the competition to love you.

Hi Tom! Excellent video. Although all forms of advertising are available on the internet, many things have very different effects in different countries. We are all tied to the rules of these huge platforms. Have you ever come across any studies that show that paid ads may not work in some places? Specifically Facebook Ads. I'm from Brazil, the cost of anything here related to the dollar becomes absurd. A $15 daily campaign here turns into something around $86!

maybe it's the countries, some places, users will click but then they don't have the app, or an account and cant use it, just see what countries they are clicking in meta, that are not showing up on spotify for artists, and then just remove those countries.

even if you follow all these advice, it's only gonna work in one out of 10.000 times simply because you don't have THE song.

Depends on what you consider "work", if that's being famous and a top artist certainly. If not, it depends on what you want. I would never think I could have a thousand listeners, now I have double that and quite made it from my initial goal. Now my goal is to get half a salary, and yeah, it's attainable even if you don't have that song, whatever that means.
