Doc I have just received my blood test. I have celiac disease. My iron is at 180, % 52 while 5 months ago my serum was 52 with a saturation of 11. My diet has not changed ( paleo autoimmune diet) and lately I have been more focused on fish.

I tested myself and I found that my test level is very low. It’s said that the healthy levels are between 300 on the low end and 900 on the high end. Well mine is 137. I am 47 and for the last few years I have really noticed the difference from what I used to feel like. I feel this is the way to go. I have a question, do doctors accept results from EVERYWELL online clinic? Or should I be retested? I have so many questions. Will anyone plz answer? I would really appreciate it

hi there! Great video. I have high Dhea-s with apparent symptoms (especially excessive chin hair, body hair). My estrogen is a bit low. Prolactin is a bit high. My ultrasound revealed my one ovary is larger and bulkier than the other one (suggesting extra follicles in one rather than the other ovary). what do you think this means? I went to my doctor but they’re not sure, so I’m being sent to an endocrinologist. Thanks please let me know :)

My homocysteine is 14 so its high, I paid out of pocket to have it checked (along with a panel of cardiac tests) my PCP didn't think the test was important she wouldn't even view the results. So now I'm out there in la la land trying to figure out what I do now with this information? I just hit menopause and am wondering if it could be elevated based on that my triglycerides skyrocketed during the meno transition but have settled down to WNL ? I'm planning on going on HRT to deal with other symptoms but if high homocysteine is a risk for blood clots does taking HRT then increase that risk further. Can I take any supplements? I should also mention I am a migraine suffer and from what I read that can also be a symptom of high homocysteine

@@swintegrative How many blood donations do you have to do before you get rid of all excess iron stored in the bodys tissues or liver? Also if your ferritin drops dramatically after each donation is that probably iron overload and if it doesnt drop much its probably inflamation causing the high ferritin instead, does that sound right.

May I pick your brain Dr.? Is it true that trt lowers hepcidin and typically increased red blood cells, where as taking lactoferrin(typically 250mg) with an iron dose(maybe 18mg?) on an empty stomach followed up with 2mg of copper 4 hours later will help facilitate the transport of iron, and increase iron stores in the cells, essentially increasing the hepcidin response in the the body and stabilizing and/or lowering rbc production? Men on trt are typically told to donate blood, which lowers their rbc (and also iron and ferritin!)when in reality, (if their ferritin is low), they most likely have iron deficiency without anemia, and need to increase iron stores via those supplements as noted above. What are your thoughts on this? I only ask cause its possible that men on trt are over-donating, draining themselves of iron and ferritin, when in reality(from what ive learned so far), they need to go the supplementation route. Providing that their ferritin and iron is low.
@swintegrative
@swintegrative 3 күн бұрын
Yes, it is common that donating blood will lead to low iron low ferritin, even though hemoglobin and red blood cells are high, and therefore those taking TRT and donating blood should be monitoring their ferritin levels in addition to automate, hemoglobin, etc. The problem is a lot of people refer to iron instead of specific terms like hemoglobin ferritin and hematocrit. So a person may be donating blood and be told their iron is high when really what they should say is your hemoglobin is high. Hopefully that makes sense. I did make a video specifically on this topic, but I forget the title of it.

@swintegrative Appreciate the response! I was set to donate again in late July, but my last blood ferritin level, which was taken about 2.5 weeks ago was 7...yes 7, very low. So I am canceling that donation. That was on a peak for me/three days after injection. My free T was at 194. One week ago, She did a re-check of ferritin, an initial iron level test(for the first time after a year of being on TRT) and another testosterone check although on a trough this time ( which is 6.5 days after injection). I should have the results tomorrow and devise a plan with them and go from there. Note: I half dose weekly/100mg a week. I only ask because my hematocrit climbs a little, but my ferritin is 7, so donating is out of the question until I raise that and also see what my iron is, which will be revealed tomorrow. My protocol listed above may be what I bring forth to them IF my iron is low as well, but thats not ALWAYS the case when you have low ferrtin, at least from what i read. I also read if you increase iron stores in the cells, providing the body needs it, it can actually decrease rbc production, so the notion that men need to constantly donate due to high hematocrit, providing their ferritin and iron is also low, should actually do the opposite. Hold onto their blood, take iron supplementation to get transported into their cells, and providing this happens, it should turn should lower rbc's. This what I've learned from a health care provider off the tube that has an extensive background in hematology and also has patients on trt. (What they claim anyways) Lactoferrin is a protein that's suppose to bind to the iron and held absorb it, then copper is suppose to help facilitate the transportation of it into the cells. Something like that anyways...this Just may be my solution I propose to them if my iron is low too. P.s. my hematocrit hangs as LOW as 15.5 and got as high as 20.3 when I tried to donate at the red cross a few weeks ago. A few days later, I drank a crap ton of water, like ALOT within a short period of time, went Into the red cross as a walk in and my hematocrit was 16.4, so, still slightly elevated but at least I was able to donate. This was RIGHT before we found out my ferritin was 7.

Thank you for this video. I had symptoms of this, and I have late stage Lyme disease with many complications. A friend sent me info on MCAS, so I investigated and found out I have cousins who are diagnosed with histamine intolerance. I also found out that a heart drug I must take will cut DAO levels in half for weeks after just one dose! So, rather than give up so many very healthy foods and have to cook two different meals for myself and my husband, I just take an antihistamine at night, and I take 8 mgs. of DAO 3 X daily with every meal. I try to avoid having a lot of high histamine foods at the same meal. It helped me very quickly, so I think I guessed right. Doctors where I live do not have a clue, so we are on our own. I had all of the symptoms you mentioned except my blood pressure soars rather than drops, the same paradoxical reaction that occurs when I am stung by a bee, for example. SAMe did nothing for me. Taking DAO has also improved my rosacea and stopped the endless itching of my scalp.

Why a book called "Don't be deficient," when the topic is "What To Do If You Have High B12 Levels??" A 1 minute video? Just to sell the book? WHAT DOES ONE EAT AND NOT EAT WHEN b12 LEVELS ARE TOO HIGH???
@swintegrative
@swintegrative 5 күн бұрын
You may want to take a look at some of the high b12 videos in more detail. High b12 is not a problem in and of itself. It’s what it may be telling you about what is happening in your body (when you don’t take b12). It’s not about the diet to eat to lower it. Although you are welcome to do that animal products have the most b12 btw. The book details the whole range of issues with b12 both high and low levels and also when your b12 levels are high in your blood but low inside the cell. A big chunk is about high B12 but a bigger chunk is about low B12. Good luck to you 👍

Elevated enzymes found at annual physical. Currently ALT hovering 180ish and ALT hovering 80ish. I was taking nitrofurantoin as a prophylaxis. I stopped asap in Jan and here 5 months later they haven’t dropped. Stopped all otc and supplements too. Biopsy showed most likely drug induced liver injury and nitrofurantoin is a known culprit. Does it normally take so long for enzymes to go down? My diet is very liver friendly and I have a low BMI.
@swintegrative
@swintegrative 4 күн бұрын
It typically does not take more than a few weeks to see improvements and liver enzymes. Once you remove the offending agent like in your case if the nitrofuantoin was causing it, I would expect those liver enzymes to drop within a few weeks. sometimes it’s hard to get to the bottom of it though, good luck and thanks for sharing
