Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It is refreshing to listen to a doctor who is not constrained by insurance and actually knows what he is talking about . Very must appreciated.

Secretor status is also important..often non- secretors are seen as pre- diabetics but indeed aren't at all..😊

So Doc, I've been diagnosed with Stage 3 Kidney Disease just a few weeks ago. I'm 53 and don't have sugar problems or Diabetes. I have never smoked and don't drink alcohol. I've worked out for the last 30 years but have always had High Blood Pressure. Like around 154/94 was about the average know idea why, ( my dad had high blood pressure but I check that off too being a workaholic in a factory and 2 packs of cigs a day). But I felt okay I just needed to take a few extra minutes in-between sets in the gym. I had know idea that high blood pressure could cause damage to other organs. Well ignoring my High blood pressure for so many years has given me stage 3 Kidney Disease. I'm on two blood pressure meds now as of about 3 months and my average blood pressure now is around 127/84. I really don't want to cut my protein too much if I don't have too, I'd hate to loose the muscle I've worked so hard to get. I'm about 214 pounds with alot of muscle all natural never done Roids just creatine. Anyway I'm thinking about going no meat and just getting my protein from Protein Shakes everyday. So are protein shakes just as bad as meat products for Kidneys? Do you think that would be a good plan or do I need to come up with something else?
@swintegrative2 ай бұрын
Oh wow that’s too bad but thanks for sharing. Protein is not inherently bad for kidneys like glucose, fructose and toxins. Large amounts can certainly create more filtration stress on the kidneys though. Typically want to keep BUN in normal ranges. As for protein meat vs protein it’s going to be similar. You want to eat protein that has the same amino acid structure as muscle. This is whey protein but that is the same as animal flesh since it is muscle protein. Hopefully that makes sense 👍.

@@swintegrativeAbsolutely makes sense, Thanks for the info. It'll help me guide my nutrition in the right direction.

Go for hemp protein. It's the most wholefood of all the powders. It's also very absorbable and gut healing. Whey protein has too much inflammatory potential re dairy. Just take fish oil to balance your omegas if you're going to cut meat
@johnbarnett28042 ай бұрын
@@vanessac1965 I'll try it out. probably not going to cut meat completely, I'll cut it back to only lean meat once or twice a week to get that complete Amino acids profile. I'm going to order the hemp protein on Amazon now. I'll swap back and forth with it and the Whey protein. Hemp on non workout days and whey on workout days and see how it goes. Thanks for the idea!!

@@swintegrative Just looked up my last test results from last week. My BUN is 10 so it looks good for now.

I am B-12 anemic and my A1C is almost pre-diabetic even though I have a great diet - lowish in carbs. I don't do Keto but am very aware of carbs. My glucose is always pretty good when I measure it. My problem is my b12 is very low even though I eat lots of eggs (have chickens), dairy and beef.
@swintegrative2 ай бұрын
Sounds like your low b12 contributing factor to you high A1c. Also mb absorption issue for you ask your doctor
@aliakin58542 ай бұрын
Yea I think there is something wrong with my a1c of 5.26%. Cuz I did a sugar load test at home. 90 mins after eating 2 plates of dessert my blood sugar was 103 mg/dl. So I think a1c seems kinda high for my glucose tolerance ability.
@swintegrative2 ай бұрын
Hard to tell from that alone a CGM would be more helpful
@garyclark11352 ай бұрын
I'm pretty much carnivore. Very little if any carbs. My last A1C was 5.7.
@swintegrative2 ай бұрын
Sounds like something to interrogate further especially if you have been doing strict carnivore for 4 plus months
@garyclark11352 ай бұрын
@@swintegrativeDoctors I follow in the carnivore space theorize that eating nutrient dense foods and avoiding the highly processed stuff allows RBCs to live longer.
@swintegrative2 ай бұрын
Could be but that doesn’t sound right to me. Could also be that it is unique to you. Important thing is to find out if your (area under the curve) glucose is normal or not.
@garyclark11352 ай бұрын
@swintegrative Same blood test, my glucose was 105, fasting insulin 10.2. Maybe of significance, RBC and Hgb both a bit low. MPV and RDW-CV both a bit high. These have been low and high respectively for at least three years. Ferritin was high at 711.0. Even when eating high carb, my highest A1C was 5.9
