I was curious what your outdoor setup looked like. It's perfect! Great cook, Tommy! Props for braving the elements. BTW, this is the perfect time of year to smoke cheese.

Looks pretty juicy and delicious Tommy. I can’t find brisket in my home town so I will be making a chunk roast for sure. The Masterbuild worked perfectly. I will be making mine on a kettle grill. I a wonderful weekend brother and keep warm.

Nice to see a new MB video, that looks so good. I use apple wood splits when making pizza on my MB 900 and they come out amazing. I have noticed a lot of buildup of an oily residue on the top of the burn chamber, but other than that, it's been fantastic.

That chuck looks mouth-watering, Tommy! I still haven't pulled the trigger on a masterbuilt. Maybe this will be the year?👍😋😋😋

Tommy you are the expert on the XT. Is the bottom rack basically useless for long smokes. Let’s use baby back ribs for example. Is it too hot for BB’s over a 4-5 hour period?
@thegalleryBBQ3 күн бұрын
560/800/1050/XT i never ever use that bottom rack. When i grill I do, smoke. Never! Stay tuned for the new 1150... side by sides with that XT
@Rick-z4h3 күн бұрын
@ Thanks Tommy. So how many racks of ribs will the xt hold not using the bottom grate?
@kennybaumann21173 күн бұрын
@Rick-z4h I have been using the 1050 for a couple of years and the XT for several months and I can tell you from experience that I use the bottom rack primarily for hot and fast grilling due to the amount of radiant heat I have at that location. The exception is when I have it fully loaded and I utilize all of the racks but when I do that I put 2 foil pans that I bend over the manifold of the 1050 and just sit on top of the perimeter of the XT to act as a diffuser and also to collect all of the fat drippings to keep the grill cleaner. I occasionally even ad water, beer, beef or chicken stock to add moisture while smoking. I will put a pan on the bottom rack if I am just using the second rack for normal cooks like 1-2 pork butts or briskets, or a spatchcocked turkey etc.

@ thank you! I currently have a Traeger ironwood 885 and also a pit barrel. Both are great. I’m looking to buy the XT pretty soon. My ironwood can handle about 8 racks of ribs and so will my pit barrel. I’ve never been happy with the lack of smoke taste with the traeger.

Looks great! About that warranty/stick issue….could you use your chop saw and cut those sticks into large chunks? Would that be within manufacturer allowances and still give you the smoke you want? I’m watching you and the plaid Canadian dudes videos with great interest before pulling the trigger on a $1500 smoker.

Hey Tommy. Cook looks great. I know you’re in south Jersey like me. Where do you get your wood from? I’m almost about To get a Brazos and going to need some wood lol. And would like to try splits like that in my mb800.

I have a question to ask you. I know you’ve got the latest and greatest master built grill. But I happen to have the master built grill 1050. Have you ever tried just smoking meats? In relation to making your own jerky and smoking it. Have you ever tried any wild game meats too ?

I bought a masterbuilt smoker from Cabelas and a month after i bought it the temp controller board died. I looked up reviews for that smoker and many people had the same issue. I went out and bought a Treager and that was 3 years ago. Not one problem. Morale of the story ...Dont be like me buy something on the spur of the moment. Do your research on any Mastebuilt unit you might buy.
