Never seen this type of alpha engine, the one I have is the alpha b852 5+2 port prospec engine I got from Ryan lutz website, and it's a beast for sure, it has super tight pinch and the crank comes modified out of the box, about to be a gallon in and it's just now loosening up and breaking in
@TastyBRC4 күн бұрын
The b852 is a nice engine, the 5p prospec is the cheapest alpha on the market, rtr level engine. But alphas tune really good just like nova used to

You are running the donuts clutch? I recently tried it. 1mm springs on the tightest setting and it still hooks up too early. And i bought 5 sets clutchshoes. Dammit waste of money
@TastyBRC5 күн бұрын
Yes Kings, donuts clutch, it was terrible, springs are way too soft for the gt. I love it with my piccos and my b7 but I remember sayong that the ad3 was super smooth on the bottom, maybe a bit too much and it was with this clutch. Try it with a different engine maybe you will like it or I will buy all your donuts clutch shoes ✌️

Broski how did you like the backplate?? Where is my shout out ?! jk jk. They seem to discontinue it to push their RTX gizmo..smh, I'm trying to source them over here for future builds. Its funny you brought up those tires bec my nitro guy just sent me a ton of them for next to nothing... they seem small ..no?

You definitely deserve that shout out, sorry about that 😅😅. I was runnin a offroad clutch and it was doing terrible.. so I cant really compare. Next time I will do a fair comparison with a onraod clutch, run a few tanks with the stock backplate and swap it with the reds back plate at the track. The onraod sp racing tires are great
@kawicepticon88666 күн бұрын
@@TastyBRC I was just busting your chops my man. An offroad clutch can work but it takes time to get the spring and shoe weight and composition sorted out, easy fix is a Gt clutch since they tend to work with the soft low end and screming top end power delivery . I use to run a Buku off road clutch with 1 light Kompostie shoe w light spring and 2 and 1 heavy shoe w light spring and the thirds was a heavy shoe and spring..and that was on a Capricorn Red Dot "5 min" engine. Those tires seem really gummey , I cant see them not working. But lasting..idk we will see. Enough ranting from me lol. See ya next vid my nitro bro

Have you ever tried the wide open throttle break-in method? You MUST use a head heater when doing this, run it blubbery rich, make sure to keep the temps up, and I always replace the rod after this type of break-in, but it DOES produce a wonderful engine doing it this way. For a cheap RTR bashing engine, I run them in they way you do, but for a high quality racing engine, I use the W.O.T. method on every one.

@@TastyBRCMe too. I had a few SH .28s 3p and they lasted a long time. Then I came across a new Dynamite Big Red .28 6p for a good deal, and then I found a .28 pro 8p piston and sleeve set on clearance for $20, so I bought a few sets and threw one in the Big Red engine. It's been a strong runner, and I still have it. I like the giant cooling head on the Big Red, and it is GREAT for extended bashing sessions. Stays cool all day on 30%. 👍

I run 30% Nitro in my 32x Spec4, and it runs cool as a cucumber, and holds a tune really well. I hardly ever have to touch the HSN, and NEVER have to touch the LSN. I just run it, and enjoy it. No frustration whatever with this engine.

@davelowets10 күн бұрын
No. It is an SH carb with the replaceable venturis. I've had great luck with this carburetor on various engines, and had heard that the LRP carburetor is not great, so I broke the engine in with the xtec carb, and then switched to the SH carb when it was time to tune.

It's very unlikely that the scratches came from something that was sucked in through the front bearing.There would be more marks if that was the case. (On top of the piston and in the crankcase). As you always check your engines very good this is very strange, but i suspect it's something on the sleeve. Maybe tiny blurs.??? Or since most scratches are at the exhaust side something came in there. ( Carbon parts maybe) ??? The donuts clutch is exactly like the Reds. If you assemble it you turn the inner part counter clockwise. The more you turn it counter clockwise the tighter the springs get. Your engine is still fine but check it again. And check the manifold.There must be something there what caused these scratches.
@TastyBRCАй бұрын
Hello Kings, Yees I always check the engines (and make a video) and as I told you those scratches appeared after 2 litres, still Stankos hypothesis is the most plausible to me, if the engine had sucked someting from the exhaust port, there would be scrathces on the top of the piston imo, look carefuly at 1:45 that doesnt seem to be caused by dirt or burs, but I guess we will never know. I ran the engine since, with the donuts clutch and there are no new scratches, sadly the clutch springs and setting are not hard enough.. the clutch is engaging way too early.
@kings-racingАй бұрын
Stanko could be right. Although i doubt one clutchshoe has enough force to drive the piston up and down. Guess we will never know for sure what caused it. Don't know what springs you run, but a 1.0 should be enough. I'm gonna find out since i ordered the donuts clutch aswell. Shoes from a jvd clutch which i run are nowhere to found anymore. I hope the donuts clutch shoes fit my jvd clutch too.

Maaaaaaan…. I thought you had changed out that bearing when you first tore it down for initial inspection/thoughts video… ☹️ That’s TERRIBLE. I would DEFINITELY reach out to Maxy on fakebook about that. I know the Picco Monza 9 runs a metal shielded front bearing as well, but NO WAY should you be able to see through it. Definitely pop a rubber shielded bearing in that bad boy.. I can’t believe that. I’m so sorry to see that on an engine I recommended.. 😥 That being said-I still wish I had been able to grab the off-road engine before the price went up $150 after you got yours.. I’m ordering my Picco P3TX in a few days from them.. It’s still on sale at least, and I know it runs like an ANIMAL..
@TastyBRCАй бұрын
Hey Mickey, I got a bunch of comments, theories and I think that what caused the damage is not the bearing, look at the scratches, only on the exhaust side and lower half of the piston so it is not caused by dirt. Still, I replaced the bearing. There will be a update video
