If you want to read Anthony Trollope's Barchester series, start with The Warden . It is quite short and introduces the Characters who appear in further Books.

I love Hotel New Hamphire. But as an intro to Irving I would start with Garp. I think it's the most readable.

Most of my classmates hate this book but I loved it so goddamn much, I was way too attached to the characters and cried for George's grief over the loss of his friend and for Lennie himself as I saw so much of my younger self in him. I am a high-functioning autistic person and I displayed as a child (and still some of it as an adolescent) the behaviours of Lennie. While I know it was never confirmed it was heavily implied. The sheer hope these two had at the start of the book and seeing it all die by the end was so heartbreaking for me and just thinking about the book makes me cry a lot...

I'm in the middle of this book and don't know why it isn't more popular than it is. It's absolutely hilarious and was such a treat to read. Always put me in the best mood!

What is disgusting is a she-male explaining male roles and not a man trying to come to grips with how most men off the radar are no different than her. You need to defend your honor if you want a woman by your side. God does not love delicate types being conflicted.

A book that perfectly captures a truly magical childhood - the childhood that every human would have in an ideal world. Screamingly funny and very informative. If it's your first read, you'll never want it to end. The sequel, Birds, Beast and Relatives, is just as hilarious and interesting.

I found a book, Lawrence of Arabia, at a yard sale, it actually was the same copy my aunt had as a girl. It had her handwriting in it telling the reader to return to her with her adress

Bertie Wooster is a knucklehead, but he doesn't think so. That is the central issue with a lot of PGW's Jeeves novels. Bertie gets himself into a jam with his cunning plans, and Jeeves gets him out.

I love all of P.G. Wodehouse's works! I forget which one I read first, since that was around 1960, give or take a year or two! Anyway, I have read all that I can get my hands on, and after several years, I would re-read some of them between other books I happen to be reading. Although the T.V series deviate somewhat from the books or stories, I also find them enjoyable. All in all, I'm a big Wodehouse fan!

Read it years ago and re-read it yesterday. First time round (I was in my early teens) I cried....The puppy. I knew that Lenny would end up killing the woman. The book reminds of the Pinter's Caretaker; " The Scarecrow" film with Gene Hackman and Am Pacino, "Rainman".....All came much later on but still.....!

Best to stretch out these little sugar hits of comedy, or it's like a DVD season of Only Fools and Horses, Seinfeld and/or Fawlty Towers, for example, that you watch episode, end-on-end, and get so sick of it before it ends, that you never want to think of it again :-)

i definitely did think this was a very bizarre book! like nothing i have ever read! though i do think it's a bit slow and boring at times and the ending murder spree and the capture of grenuile just happened so quickly while so much time had been given to other aspects of his life (like his time in the cave). i do see the importance of part two of the book, but i wished the ending could have been a bit more balanced in terms of pacing

Absolutely love anything Wodehouse. I got into him in my twenties and, 40 years on, still love him. I'm in Canberra, Australia and most of our second-hand book fairs have a good supply of Wodehouse, particularly older Penguin versions.

There was many scenes in the book where she was confronted with the press because of her achievements. Do you think the representation of the press was realistic ? What was your best scene with the press ?
