I just purchased this kit... I am so excited and looking forwarded to getting it. I did not see the rectangle frame on the website...do you still offer it?
@FeltedSkyАй бұрын
Hi, the current version of the kit has been available since 2019 and comes with a hoop to put it in. We do not carry the frames anymore. If you prefer to frame your picture, I recommend getting a frame you like first. One that has a backer board. Then, cut the fabric in the kit about 1 in. larger than the backer board (all the way around) so that it will wrap around to the back of the backer board and you can glue it there when you are finished. Then make the picture, making slight adjustments so that it will fit the new size and shape of the fabric.

That is the nice thing about art. If you make a similar landscape you can make it how you want and leave off the red leaves.
I love these! I am so tempted on trying my hand at it, this made it look less intimidating!

I got this kit and sadly there wasnt nearly enough wool to make all the succulents 😢😢 . I love the videos though
@FeltedSky3 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear you did not have enough wool. Did you do the part in the beginning where you tear and prep all the leaves before you start felting? The kit is designed to have *just enough* wool for each plant but it is easy to make the leaves too large if you skip that step. Each leaf needs less wool than you think! We do sell the little balls of wool individually, so if you want to finish the plants I would suggest purchasing one more ball of wool for each one or just have bigger leaves but not as many of them when you put the plants together at the end.

Can you lightly draw in where the lines should go.

I find that markers and pens don't always write well on felt but you could try that with a sharpie. There are no hard and fast rules - just experiment and see what works for you!

I need tl make a caterpillar shape with ridges along it for xmas ...its a bossety worm im trying to make cos the one on sale is a fake...and im not sure how to do the initial shape...im thinking use prefelt and string to tie the crinkles in the worm...like tie down so thay each bit blobs out and has a line acirss it if that makes sense.
@FeltedSky Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I would probably go with all core wool myself. You could make the puffy bump parts first and then connect them all with a layer of core wool over top. Similarly, you could take these eggs and connect them together with a layer of core wool.

Would it not be more time efficient to wet felt the ball then needle felt on a design? This method seems incredibly laborious especially if you want to make enough to go on a Christmas tree!!
@FeltedSky Жыл бұрын
I do not generally find wet felting to be a speedy process, but it is possible that it would be a little faster than needle felting the ball, and most especially if you wet felted your balls in the washing machine/dryer instead of by hand. Then it would definitely be faster. We do sell ornament balls now that are wet felted and this kit is getting redesigned in the next few weeks so that it has 4 of our pre-made balls instead of starting from scratch. Some people do want to know how to needle felt a ball and hone their sculpting skills this way. But most of us don't have the time for it, that is true!

Hi - I generally do not share the name/location of the mini mill that does our processing. While it is milled there, the wool is not grown there. I would recommend checking out The Woolery and this festival: www.kentuckysheepandfiber.com/

ok LoL I found out where to buy the frame, and you don't have it anymore, plus the kit I have, came in a box, not bag, only has 10 colors, a hoop, and linen to do this on, what do I do, I don't have the same colors as in this tutorial.

@@gaiaspirit5313 Have we already corresponded over email? The KZbin videos show my old versions of the kits. The new versions are the only ones available now (since 2019). You can modify the new kits to make rectangular pictures by finding your own frame first, and cutting the linen backing to fit that frame before you begin. A few colors are different in the new kits vs. old kits. I left up these older tutorials because people still find them useful.

What are the differences between the needles? This video was so relaxing and your skills are excellent!
@FeltedSky2 жыл бұрын
There are different types and gauges (sizes) of needles. The barb (notch) placement can be different on the bottom of the needle or the shape at the bottom can be different (triangle - 3 sided vs. star - 4 sided). In this video, you want to start sculpting with the lower gauge (bigger) 36 triangle needle because you can get the shape finished faster. Then go to a higher gauge needle for the branches because you will get a smoother surface finish. Probably any size 38 or 40 would be fine for making the branches.
