If we look at the Christian God he is not omnipotent according to the definition you are providing. The Christian God is all powerful, but He cannot defy His own nature, as shown in the following ways: 1. He cannot sin (He is the standard for morality) 2. He cannot destroy himself 3. He cannot defy logic (He is the standard for logic 4. And other ways I can’t think of atm. But in the example you provided, God can make a rock he can’t lift! God can make a rock that Jesus could not lift, no logical contradiction.

So God is all powerful and can do anything. He can create a rock that he cannot lift only if he wants himself not to be able to pick it up, if he desires to pick it up, he will pick it up This means that this can even happen to a normal rock. God can desire to not be able to pick it up and if he desires to pick it up he can For Example, Imagine a camera room where a person has the ability to look at any camera and can look at any place in the world only if he looks to any camera. So he has the ability to do it, it is just about if he does it or not

If he has the ability to lift the rock than that rock by definition is not unliftable in an absolute sense. It's not about choice, it's about being able to do sth.
@mcglitchmaster5174

@@TheMeanderingGentleman he can do anything than he can do both : create a rock that he can't lift and also have the ability to lift that unliftable rock, and if you say that god created it by his powers so something undoable or unliftable considered by him should actuallty be unliftable by him than he can again do both: lift that rock and also not give himself the permission to pick it up even if he uses all of his powers. Basically what I am trying to say is god can create a separate limit like his 100% power is unlimited, he can separate the ability to lift up such an unliftable rock from his powers when he does not give himself the permission to pick it up and add the ability to pick such unliftable rock up again into his total or 100% powers when he gives himself the permission to pick it up. God can do anything so it means anything because there is no greater power than him.

For me i would describe memes as a universal joke, that any one can understand whatever his nationality are, a normal joke is bound to the culture that it had originated from, and said culture are the only group that could understand it, let me give you an example, a joke in my country would go like this (a Police officer is asking a blind man to prove that he is blind, so the blind man said: (ok do you see that tree), the police officer: (yes), the blind man: (well i can't see it), ok did you understand the joke, my point exactly.
@TheMeanderingGentleman
@TheMeanderingGentleman 18 күн бұрын
If I understood the joke, the blind person can't show the tree to the police officer. For me, memes are more than jokes because they are taken out of context and modified on the internet. The joke carries it's context along ( you have to state that the person is blind). Moreover, there are memes that aren't funny to all people. Some memes are region specific, and not all people can understand them. That being said, I like your definition, as I did not think of the universal aspect of memes, that probably comes from the universal aspect of the internet. Thanks for the comment!

This question is actually NOT about the stone, but about God's powers. The answer is no, God cannot create a stone he can't lift because God can do all things. Any stone created could be lifted by God. The issue with this question is people classify the "immovable stone" as a unique object and claim that God can create any object, so he could create the immovable stone. But the property "immovable" is only a reference to God's powers and isn't really about the stone at all. Since God's powers are unlimited, a "stone that can't be moved by God" is by definition impossible since God can move anything. This isn't to say that "we've found something God can't do!" It is only saying that the whole idea of an "immovable stone" vs. God's unlimited power basically amounts to saying "God can do anything but God can't do something" which is a logical contradiction.

So we have this guy, Mr. God and he invents all logical laws, and you want to say you don't know if lifted the stone. I think the answer would be close to 'both and neither', if it's impossible, therefore it's possible. Trying to catch the guy with the title 'creator almighty' out with logical paradoxes, would just would seem kinda pointless to me, since it can't apply to him when it's so far bellow his pay grade. However, you do bring up something there with how we probably couldn't work this kinda thing out anyways, when with this kind of case it just leads to people arguing over semantics. Philosophy vibe made a video on this exact take I suggest anyone curious check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3fagKxjh6megqs

Simple question, can you define that God had no beginning and has no end, can you define that, well i think not, you can't define everything, there are things that are beyond our understanding. Ps: the question is not directed at you personally, it's directed to any person that dwell so deep in philosophy, short answer for every unsolved philosophical questions is there are things that we can't define in our knowledge and better be left off, great video btw.

In case of God, maybe at quantum level, he can create a stone heavy enough that he can't lift - but at the same time, He can lift it

If God is omnipotent he could have created the universe, why god is not the beginning, because god is subjected by the universe, because he can only make things according the the laws of the Universe, and therefore if God created the universe he would not be bound by its laws as he would have made them. Why is God subjected (being omnipotent) by the universe (God not being above the universe) because if God was omnipotent, he wouldn't have to make a world of sufferring for us to learn and experience, argument given by theists, on why God allows suffering. In other words everything would be perfect and there would be no need for any learning or experiencing. Which leads to a dilemma, if god is all powerful he can not be all loving and vice versa. Or a simpler explanation is that first, whatever humans are reffering to in every religion is not a omnipotent god, but a mythologically exaggerated rulers who were more advanced the humans, but not necessarily meaning that they were god/s. Also second explanation on why is the world and the universe harsh and non forgiving, simply because it is indifferent to anything and it is neutral, leading to lack of any omnipotent sentient being, and rather the universe itself is the origin of all and can be considered omnipotent while at the same time assuming it is not sentient, and no such omnipotent sentient being ever existed in the first place, but it was created in humans image, for our lack of understanding the universe and also it's reason to be created deeply rooted in our fears, in hope for a greater meaning and immortality.

Unfortunately good sir, you and many people are falling for the trap of this problem being paradoxical, which is quite biased, and misinformed due to people not being able to fully comprehend what omnipotent means. Here is a quick way to actually answer this question. First you have to understand that being omnipotent (also you have been pronouncing it incorrectly) also includes being "omnipresent" which means being able to be everywhere at once, this includes not only on the physical dimension but also on the time axis, so basically being omnipotent by induction also means to be omnipresent and being omnipresent means being everywhere at the same time; therefore, god can exist in 2 different places at the same time. Second we will assume a scenario where god creates a plane of existence. god stands on that plane of existence and creates the rock that god will not be able to lift. At the same time god is omnipresent therefore god can also be carrying/lifting the entire plane of existence that includes god and the rock on it. meaning that god can be carrying both (not being able to lift the rock) and (being able to lift the rock) at the same time, since god was able to carry the plane carrying the rock, and the version of god's self that existed on that plane. Since being able to lift an object implies by default that you are able to carry anything on that object. If you are having trouble understanding or imagining it. imagine a person on a planet in space, on that planet is a person (god) who is not able to lift the rock, but at the very same time, there is a different bigger version of that person (god) who is lifting the entire planet and everything on it. Therefore the answer is : both yes and no because being able to do both is what makes god omnipotent.
