Thanks! Most of these hinge on me discovering something weird as a dragon (like accidentally knocking a netch out of the sky) so I'm hoping there will be more, but most likely they will be short ones like this.

Hey, this is the kind of music I was looking for a game. Do you have more like it?
@tapewolf3 ай бұрын
Not really. There was the score for "Kobold at the Drone Factory" which was deliberately similar and uses a lot of System Shock ideas like square-wave bleeps, and the same drum set. There was also "Protogen Revolution" on the "Robots and Other People" album but it's not -that- similar. "Fahdonmul's Lament" was original going to be similar but ended up veering away from that style.
@vinny-g6s3 ай бұрын
@@tapewolf I would like to work a deal to license your song, if you're interested. I'm making a first person dungeon crawler with cyborgs in style of system shock and some ambience would help the mood of the gameplay.

I used to love placing bombs in the palace when Mordea, Salkind and Aramina are having their meeting, lighting one and boltong for the exit. The lighting bolt would come down and if you run fast enough it'll miss. Then the game crashes with code errors hahaha. Sometimes if you dont get killed Beren, the guardsmen and Mordea have a fight.

And on that iceberg, there's an invisible ice sword that freezes enemies. A friend had told me about the two-handed lightning sword, but I never found it. I followed the storyline and got stuck in the dungeon at Trinsic. I never managed to solve it :("

The music, the song, the tape visuals and the ingame visuals are perfect and what's more, they are mixed together so professionally that I rarely find on YT. This shows the difference between when somebody just makes use of the possibility to upload something to a free video cache, like YT, and when somebody really has the specific talent and know-how.

Thanks, it's been a long road to get to that point. It can also be very dispiriting to pour so much heart and soul into something like this, or "Fahdonmul's Destiny" and have it basically sink. So comments like this do help make it seem worthwhile.

my experience with Serpent Isle back in the DOS days, was that "breaking" was already baked into the game itself. The bugs, the broken dialogue and events, all the places you were not meant to access until a certain time, being accessible right away through some misplaced key or teleporter. Compared to The Black Gate, Serpent Isle was a fever dream of inconsistencies and oddities. LOVED IT.

this is so cool!, was the the process like making this? as in filming with the equipment and development and digitalising it
@tapewolf5 ай бұрын
Well, this is a somewhat expensive camera to begin with, though you can get decent results with something like a Beaulieu R16, though those are a lot harder to load the film on. If you want to try film, Super8 is a very good place to start because the cameras are fairly cheap and the film is in a cartridge so there's less fiddling loading the film. With this year's Confuzzled I used two daylight spools of film. These can be loaded in subdued light which makes things easier, but they only run for about 2.75 minutes. This camera has a lightmeter and a though-the-lens viewfinder. I used a fixed-length lens rather than a zoom lens to make things simpler. It's then just a matter of setting the focus and adjusting the aperture so the light meter is roughly centred. Last year's shoot I used a 400ft roll which has to be loaded in total darkness. I used a dark-bag for that. It was more awkward to load since I couldn't see what I was doing and had to trust it was okay, but it did give a full 11 minutes of shooting time. I sent the film off to a lab for processing and 3K scan, they sent back some prores MOV files which I did some colour grading on in kdenlive. Unfortunately home scanning isn't practical for these as a good scanner costs about as much as a car.

For the sorcerer parts, you can use the necromancy spell Rock Flesh to get past most if not all of the traps except for the lava stuff. You still die in that regardless. If you don't feel like using Rock Flesh, just drink a purple potion as it has the same effects as the spell.

Thanks. There were about 15 recording sessions for this as I kept getting new ideas for things he might say. It could perhaps have done with a few more retorts from Fahdonmul, but I think it worked pretty well in the end. I have two more planned, but it might also be fun to do an argument with Delphine or something.
@tapewolf8 ай бұрын
I would have liked to have used more dovahzul for Alduin's responses but most of the phrases I wanted to construct don't have entries in the dragon language lexicon. Even his favourite phrase "my teeth to your neck" (which he says about Paarthurnax and the dragonborn) had to be delivered in English because the dovahzul word for 'neck' isn't known...
