I just hot a copy of this lens, what a beauty!

I know you did this several years ago but I'm curious to know if I have the 6 element version of this lens cause my lens reads at 135mm @ f2.5 but the aperture extends all the way to f 32 & it doesnt say Takumar just SMC Pentax 135MM F2.5?

Same here with K&F OM adapter- too tight. After, I found metal shavings inside the adapter by lens mount. No problem Fotodiox regular model.

Fyi the sony nex 3 that came out in 2010 has this feature in the .5 firmware

love the Oreston. i own the same zebra model and i love the flat but organic look the lens produces, especially the colors and bokeh. mounts easily onto canon being an M42 shoots great on my 5D.

How does the IQ compared to the M version

Thanks for this, I just got this lens and an adapter to take with me on holiday for my A6000-series camera and am excited to possibly use it on some shots if I want some more telephoto-ish pictures. Some great shots, and getting to see the macro mode in action was really useful! :)

Hello, I bought a "Canon 58mm F1.2 Super Canomatic Lens R", that came with a FD-NEX mount, that wont come off. Like in this video, where you say black and silver ring, mine has a silver one with a hole for the red dot and the "Lock<-->Open" ring also has a hole, where some small screw should be, but is missing, so the ring just spins without stopping or locking, but it gives two click sounds somewhere and just continues to rotate. I wanted to remove the FD-NEX mount and use FD-EOS, but im just stuck with a beautiful lens i cant use. You think i should try to find the right screw or try some other trick like a needle

Vivitar practically invented the 70-210mm zoom lens concept. Their Series I line of lenses were their best quality, and they were excellent quality optics for their time, and fairly expensive as well. That said, Vivitar has been gone for decades (It's brand lives on applied to mostly junk, but not the same company). Others, both name camera makers and third-party lens makers, continued to make lenses of this style, most of which are better optical quality. (See Tamron SP line.) The "macro" focus ability on these lenses is there more for advertising than picture taking, as they perform miserably at that function. Fun to play with; not a lens you want as a primary user. Vivitar was a development and marketing company. It did not actually manufacture anything. There were more than three variations of this lens, made over the years by three different companies. Opinions vary as to which was the best optical quality, and there is extensive information on line organizing data and debating the issue.

I just bought one for my Fujifilm F-X2 for the same reasons. They are well made and smaller than the competition. The other great 200mm lens is the 200mm F4 ais Nikkor.
