Denny Hamlin is the Chris Paul of Nascar. Both were rookies in 2006 and both had historic rookie seasons. If you were to tell people then that 18 years later they'd both have 0 combined rings, they would think you're insane Fast forward 18 years later and both are known to be very vocal and opinionated. Over the years because of that and a lot of dirty plays/moves on court/track, both have gone from one of the most respected and likable in their sports to arguably the most hated today. Further fueled by the fact neither have a ring to back it up. Denny and CP3 really are identical in their respective sports it's crazy 😂

For sure you're right on. It's mental how much the similarities are between the two, even though the same parts of their careers. It's just a mirror of careers in different sports. At this point if they ever win a ring at all, it'll somehow be in the same year.

There's no denying that he's one of the best to ever do it, but it's equally true that he's a master of finding new and inventive ways to lose when it really matters. But, in a way, it's part of the charm of the sport. Just like the Cubs curse, Hamlin being unable to win a championship is one of the few constants of the modern era. Realistically, he's probably got another two or three years before he hits the downhill slope. I don't like him well enough to want him to win, exactly, but much like the Cubs, if he ever gets there, it'll be the end of an era.

Honestly this just shows you how much JGR has consistently failed Hamlin once the chase hit. Which really doesn't surprise me, JGR has consistently failed Kyle, Hamlin, and Truex once the chase began, and it's honestly a miracle that they have three championships in the Chase era onwards. It's actually kinda incredible how many championship shots Hamlin has lost thanks to JGR collapsing massively. 2014 and maybe 2010 and 2017 are the only ones we've seen be actually be a driver skill issue, and 2014 just barely that. The others really were just the equipment either not being up to snuff or the team throwing it away on pit road.

I wouldn’t say 2021 JGR gave it away, their pit stop wasn’t bad by any means. Hendrick just happened to completely nail everything in that final stop. The kind of stop that happens but once a year if you’re the best. Martin did nothing wrong, the car was still arguably the fastest after the stop, Kyle just got lucky and Hendrick fluked an amazing stop when it mattered most. Btw, I am saying this as a Larson fan.

Denny Hamlin is not an adult. He thinks he is hot shite. Then he chokes every time. He cheats and NASCAR looks the other way. He wins races but most of them he has to take out this competition first. Joe Gibbs puts him in a Xfinity car at Darlington. In an attempt to qualify on pole, he almost crashes for two laps, and misses the race entirely. He complains about what other drivers do and never admits to doing the same things themselves. The man is completely incapable of accepting his own faults. He is the cause of his own failures.

I am not the biggest fan but I do like 23XI and Denny has grown on me a bit over the years but some of the things he has done like dumping Larson and then making comments like "Its our year" and the favorite driver thing but then not being able to win the championship leaves a weirdly apathetic feeling towards him.
